District Leadership made surprise visits at schools and offices across the District today to celebrate this year’s Stars of Public Education Honor Court. The recognition program and event honoring ACPSD’s brightest stars first began as our annual Teacher of the Year celebration, and has grown to incorporate recognition of our very best New Teachers, Principals, Assistant Principals, Classified Staff, Professionals, and District-Level Administrators. With its origin in mind, we’ll begin our first Stars of Public Education Honor Court announcements with Teacher of the Year.

Today was an exciting milestone — our AVID Exploratory students launched their very first AVID Tutorials, a powerful peer-led structure where students use inquiry, collaboration, and academic conversation to tackle challenging content together!

🎉 They absolutely SHINED! We saw leadership take shape, incredible questioning, teamwork in action, and students supporting one another with confidence and pride. We could not be more thrilled for the growth ahead as they continue learning through inquiry and discovering just how capable they truly are! 🌟

Carter Little and Madison Duncan represented JMS today at the Area 5 Spelling Bee held at Greendale Elementary School. Carter won first place and will move on to compete at the district level. We are so very proud of Madison and Carter!

On the morning of December 5th, Jackson's AVID Elective students enjoyed their 2nd 9 weeks Buddy Breakfast where building relationships is encouraged. A big thanks to Ms. McMillian and Mrs. Parks for assisting in cooking, exploratory teachers for assisting with serving, parents for your donations, and students for your great behavior. 🎄

As part of our community service, the AVID Elective is sponsoring a toy drive at our school from now until Dec. 17. Everyone is encouraged to participate and bring in an unwrapped/new toy (Dollar Tree item is just fine) for those in need this season. Donations are to be brought to advisory classes. The advisory with the most toys will receive a festive breakfast Dec. 18. 🙂 Thanks for helping others this holiday season!

We are grateful for the opportunity to serve Aiken County families and wish each of you a very Happy Thanksgiving.

Please note that there will be no school for students, teachers, and most staff the week of November 24–28.

Additionally, all schools and offices will be closed for the Thanksgiving holiday from Wednesday, November 26 through Friday, November 28. We look forward to welcoming everyone back when we reopen on Monday, December 1.

We are so very proud of all of the contestants who participated today. Madison and Carter will represent JMS at the Area 5 Group Spelling Bee on December 5th at Greendale Elementary School.

Congratulations to 7th grader, Yisleni Rodriguez Salinas, for being chosen to represent Jackson STEM Middle School in the Lions International Peace Contest! The theme is "Together as One" encouraging young people, ages 11 to 13, to think about peace and to creatively express what it means to them and share their unique visions with the world.

Last week, Jackson Middle School honored veterans for their military service. The panel of veterans answered questions about their military experience and were treated to a reception following the program. We would like to thank the veterans and their families for attending, as well as a special shout out to Ms. Smith, Ms. Owens, Mr. Wright, JMS PTO, Coach Walker, JMS participants, and the Silver Bluff NJROTC.

Kudos to two classes! Ms. Parks and Ms. McClain’s Advisory classes were treated to breakfast in the classroom. Ms. Parks class won the Red Ribbon door decorating contest. Ms. McClain’s class donated the most items to the It’s Spooky to be Hungry challenge.

ACPSD encourages all students, staff, and families to wear PURPLE on Friday, November 14 as we celebrate the Month of the Military Family!

This special day is our way of showing appreciation and support for the incredible military families who sacrifice and serve alongside their loved ones.

THANK YOU to our military families for your dedication, resilience, and service to our nation.

Join us in honoring our heroes—both at home and abroad—by wearing purple with pride!

Throughout November, schools across the district are recognizing Veterans Day and the Month of the Military Family with special celebrations and activities to honor the veterans and active-duty heroes in our community and across the country.
