School Board Representatives
The Aiken County School Board is comprised of nine publicly-elected representatives. Each board member represents both the constituents residing in their specific geographic area in the county, as well as county stakeholders as a whole.

Identifying Your Representative
There are several ways to identify your School Board Representative. To view a large version of our board representative map, simply click on the words "Board Representative Map" and zoom into the area of the map where you live to locate the Board Member's name that serves your area. Registered voters may prefer to utilize the State Election Commission's representative identification portal. To do so, click on the words "Representative Identification Portal" and type in your County, First/Last Name, and Date of Birth. The information listed on the Election Commission's site includes all representatives (Congressional, Senate, House, County, Magistrate, etc.). School District will be listed by Representative District Number.

South Carolina School Board Association
The South Carolina School Boards Association (SCSBA), a non-profit organization, serves as a source of information and as a statewide voice for boards governing the 81 public school districts.
School Board Member Orientation
Pursuant to Section 59-19-45, within one year of taking office, all persons elected or appointed as members of a school district board of trustees after July 1, 1997, shall complete successfully an orientation program in the powers, duties, and responsibilities of a board member including, but not limited to, topics on policy development, personnel, superintendent and board relations, instructional programs, district finance, school law, ethics, and community relations.
The orientation shall be approved by the State Board of Education and conducted by public or private entities approved by the State Board of Education such as the South Carolina School Boards Association (SCSBA). Participants in SCSBA’s New Board Orientation are in compliance with this requirement, and 100% of Aiken County's School Board has completed the orientation requirement.
