The JMS Summer Reading Challenge, "Splash Into Stories" kicks off on June 1, 2025 for rising 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students. Reading 20 minutes a day, June 1 - July 31. Current JMS students with internet access can log their reading minutes in the Beanstack app through ClassLink. Students without internet and rising 6th graders are to use the attached sheet to track summer reading and turn in completed form to the JMS Library Media Center by August 6, 2025, and signed by a parent. Students will unlock prizes at 60, 120, 240, 300, 420, 540 and 600 minutes. Prizes will be awarded in August.




Staff members ended the 2024-25 school year with a luncheon to fellowship and say goodbye to staff members who are retiring or making career changes. Happy retirement to Mrs. Stikeleather and Ms. Gaines! Best wishes to Mr. Caser, Ms. Mills, Mrs. Satterfield, and Mrs. McCarty as they make career changes.



Please see the attached graphic regarding laptops, chargers, and library books. Laptops not returned by June 2nd will be reported as lost or stolen to the police department.
Unpaid library fines over $15 will be placed in Powerschool Parent Portal by June 3rd.
There are only 15 yearbooks left! Please pay Dr. Williams in the Media Center, with exact amount or by check made out to JMS, The last day to purchase is Thur., May 29, 2025.

The top 10 students in each grade level with the most minutes logged in Beanstack attended a Hat Bar party sponsored by the library media center. Students selected patches or painted a cap or hat, enjoyed breakfast and other treats. During the school year, students logged academic reading material (classwork & homework), as well as leisure reading material such as novels. The Beanstack Summer Reading Challlenge for rising 6th-8th graders runs June 1st-July 31st.

Rain, rain, go away! We had our field day, anyway! Students rotated through indoor activity stations, enjoyed grilled hot dogs, and socialized with their classmates to mark the end of the 2024-25 school year.



The Seamless Summer Meal Program returns for Summer 2025! The ACPSD Child Nutrition Program will be offering nutritious meals at no cost for children aged 18 and under, as well as for individuals with disabilities up to age 21. Meals will be served Monday through Thursday from June 2 to June 26, 2025.

Field Day is Tuesday, May 27th, 11:30 am - 3 pm.
Bring a towel and a change of clothes if you plan on participating in the water activities.
Dress code will be enforced.
Shaved ice will be sold for $3.50 each. Please bring small bills to pay for shaved ice.


The last day to purchase a yearbook is Tuesday, May 20th . Pay Dr. Williams in the Media Center $35 cash or check made out to JMS.

Congratulations to Dr. McGahee's Advisory Class for collecting the most canned goods for the Student Council food drive. The food will be donated to Meals on Wheels. The students were treated to breakfast in the classroom.
