Aiken High School’s Early Childhood Education Program’s Child’s Day Out Childcare Program

The Child’s Day Out program at Aiken High School is designed to provide a fun morning full of developmentally appropriate activities for 3- & 4-year-olds (must be toilet-trained), planned and facilitated by students in Aiken High’s Early Childhood Education program.

Child’s Day Out programming will be available on Wednesday mornings from 8:30-11:30 AM, from January 14th – May 6th, 2026 (no programming during the district’s Spring Break and Intercession).

Mrs. Franklin, the Early Childhood Education Instructor, will act as “director” and provide direction to her Early Childhood Education (ECE) students. ECE students will be responsible for planning activities, creating or preparing materials for children’s usage, serving snacks, facilitating activities, and providing supervision.

There will be 16 slots available for 3- & 4-year-old children to attend weekly. Registration for families wishing to enroll a child in the Child’s Day Out program will begin November 26th. A fillable form and $20.00 registration fee will need to be submitted. A waiting list will be maintained for those children beyond the 16 available slots. Children on the waiting list may be added to the program if an opening becomes available on a “first come, first served” basis.

After registration is completed, Mrs. Franklin will contact parents to confirm the registration and share pertinent information about an Open House and Parent Information Meeting on January 9th, 2025. The policies in the handbook will be presented to the parents at that meeting. Copies of shot records will need to be given to Mrs. Franklin and must be submitted before the child can begin attending Child’s Day Out programming.
