As part of the school’s ABC Countdown to the End of School, today’s spotlight was on the letter F, and what better way to celebrate than with “Flashlight Reading”? Students cozied up with their favorite books and let their flashlights guide them on exciting literary adventures. This fun twist on independent reading helped build excitement around literacy, encouraged focus, and added a little glow to our day. The classroom was buzzing with quiet enthusiasm as students turned pages under the soft beam of their lights. 📚🇺🇸 Spotlight on Learning in Mrs. Moore’s 5th Grade Class! This week, our creative fifth graders in Mrs. Moore’s class brought history to life — literally — with their World War II Potato People Project! 🥔✨ Students researched key figures from WWII and crafted “potato people” to represent historical leaders, soldiers, and even cultural icons like Rosie the Riveter. Each student presented their project, sharing facts, context, and the lasting impact of their chosen figure. 🤖♻️ Recycled Robots Take Over 4th Grade! 🌎📖 Mrs. Mason’s 4th grade class at North Augusta Elementary shared their amazing Recycled Robots this Friday in honor of Earth Day! Students were challenged to design and build a robot using only recycled materials, then bring their creation to life through a narrative story. ✨💬 This creative project connected to multiple South Carolina 4th Grade Standards, including: 🔹 Science 4.E.2 – Exploring how humans impact Earth’s systems and promoting environmental responsibility. 🔹 ELA 4.W.3 – Writing imaginative narratives with clear sequences and detailed characters. 🔹 Visual Arts C Anchor Standard 2 – Organizing and developing artistic ideas using a variety of tools and materials. 📚🔥 Test Prep Boot Camp Fun Alert! 🔥🏀 Mrs. Moore's group at North Augusta Elementary took their comprehension skills to the next level during Test Prep Boot Camp by diving into the Central Idea—and they did it in the most epic way possible… with a game of Trashketball! 🧠➡️🏀 These young scholars practiced identifying the central idea of texts while keeping the energy high and the competition friendly.
