What an AWESOME way to start our Friday! 💙💛

A huge **THANK YOU to the North Augusta High School football players and cheerleaders** who got up extra early this morning to help welcome our Dolphins to school! 🐬

Our elementary students were greeted with **high fives, cheers, smiling faces, and lots of encouragement** as the high school students opened car doors and helped get everyone excited for a great day of learning!

There is something extra special about seeing our high school students return to encourage and support the younger students in our community. ❤️ Seeing those big smiles on our Dolphins’ faces made it clear—**you made their morning!**

Thank you, NAHS football players and cheerleaders, for being such wonderful role models and for helping us kick off Friday with so much school spirit and positive energy!

🌮➕➖ **Taco Tuesday + Decimals = Delicious Learning!** 🌮📚

Ms. Null’s fifth-grade students put their math skills to work this week as they focused on **adding and subtracting decimals through real-life applications!**

During their **Taco Tuesday** activity, students worked in pairs using restaurant-style menus to solve word problems involving prices and decimals. They had to carefully read each problem, determine what operation to use, and calculate their answers—just like they might when ordering and budgeting at a real restaurant! 💵🌮

Activities like this help students see that math isn’t just something we practice on paper—it’s a skill we use every day! We loved seeing our fifth-grade Dolphins collaborating, problem-solving, and making meaningful connections between classroom learning and the real world. 🐬💙💛

⚡💡 **Fourth Grade Scientists Are Making Connections!** 🔋

Ms. Budreau’s fourth-grade students have been busy exploring **energy and electrical circuits** in science this week!

Our young scientists put their learning into action by creating both **open and closed circuits**. Working together, students experimented with different circuit designs as they worked toward two exciting goals—**lighting a lightbulb 💡 and getting a motor to run! ⚙️**

There was plenty of problem-solving, teamwork, testing, and adjusting along the way. Students quickly discovered that every connection matters when creating a complete circuit!

We love seeing our Dolphins learning through hands-on experiences that encourage them to **think, explore, collaborate, and persevere**. These fourth graders worked hard, learned so much, and had a great time bringing science to life! 🐬💙💛

Way to go, Ms. Budreau’s scientists! ⚡🔋💡

# 🌟 August You Rock Teacher & Staff Member of the Month 🌟

North Augusta Elementary School is excited to recognize two outstanding members of our Dolphin family as our **August You Rock Teacher and Staff Member of the Month!** These two individuals demonstrate each day what it means to care for students, set high expectations, build meaningful relationships, and make NAUES a wonderful place to learn and grow.

## 🍎 You Rock Teacher of the Month: Ms. Jennifer Budreau

Congratulations to **Ms. Jennifer Budreau, fourth-grade Math and Science teacher**, our August **You Rock Teacher of the Month!**

Although Ms. Budreau is new to North Augusta Elementary this year, it certainly has not taken long for her to make an incredible impact on her students, her fourth-grade team, and our school community.

Ms. Budreau has a wonderful ability to combine **high expectations with strong, meaningful relationships**. She challenges her students to give their very best each day, and because they know she believes in them and cares about their success, they rise to meet those expectations. Her students respect her, trust her, and genuinely want to do their best for her.

Walk into Ms. Budreau's classroom and you will quickly discover that learning is anything but boring! She brings an abundance of **creativity, enthusiasm, energy, and downright FUN** to Math and Science while never losing sight of the learning that needs to take place. She creates engaging experiences that encourage students to think, problem-solve, collaborate, and take an active role in their education.

In just the first weeks of school, we have already seen tremendous **academic and personal growth** in her students. They are becoming more confident, responsible, independent, and mature learners. Ms. Budreau expects their best, provides them with the support they need to succeed, and celebrates them as they discover just how much they are capable of accomplishing.

A truly exceptional teacher does more than teach content—she inspires students to believe in themselves, encourages them to reach higher, and creates a classroom where students **want to learn and want to succeed**. Ms. Budreau is already doing exactly that at NAUES.

We are incredibly fortunate to have Ms. Budreau as part of our Dolphin family. **Congratulations, Ms. Jennifer Budreau, our August You Rock Teacher of the Month! You ROCK!** 🐬💙💛

## 🩺 You Rock Staff Member of the Month: Mrs. Nicole DeVaughn

Congratulations to our wonderful school nurse, **Mrs. Nicole DeVaughn**, our August **You Rock Staff Member of the Month!**

Every school needs someone who can remain calm when everyone else may be worried, provide reassurance when a child is frightened, and quickly assess a situation to determine exactly what needs to happen next. At North Augusta Elementary, we are incredibly fortunate that person is **Nurse DeVaughn**.

Nurse DeVaughn is **caring, patient, knowledgeable, professional, and dependable**. Whether she is responding to an emergency, caring for a sick or injured student, managing ongoing medical needs, or simply helping a child who needs a little reassurance, she approaches every situation with a calm and caring presence.

She has a natural ability to **assess a situation, respond appropriately, and handle even stressful circumstances with confidence and compassion**. She is exactly the kind of person you want by your side when an emergency occurs.

Of course, our students know there is something else special about Nurse DeVaughn: sometimes a visit to the nurse isn't *just* about needing a Band-Aid! ❤️ Our Dolphins know her office is also a place where they can find a kind word, a caring smile, a little reassurance, and someone who will listen. It is no surprise that she has a few visitors who may occasionally discover they need a Band-Aid along with a little extra dose of Nurse DeVaughn's encouragement!

Her care extends beyond our students as well. Nurse DeVaughn works patiently and closely with our faculty and staff to ensure that we understand and are prepared to meet the individual medical needs of the students entrusted to our care. She answers questions, provides guidance, communicates important information, and helps teachers feel confident that they know how to best support their students.

A school nurse wears many hats—healthcare provider, problem-solver, educator, comforter, advocate, and trusted friend—and Nurse DeVaughn fills each of those roles with tremendous care.

Thank you, Nurse DeVaughn, for taking such wonderful care of our Dolphins and for providing our faculty and staff with the knowledge, support, and reassurance we need each day.

**Congratulations, Mrs. Nicole DeVaughn, our August You Rock Staff Member of the Month! You ROCK!** 🐬💙💛

Please join us in celebrating **Ms. Jennifer Budreau and Mrs. Nicole DeVaughn** and thanking them for the many ways they are already **Making Waves at North Augusta Elementary!** 🌊🐬

📚✨ **Seeing the Story Through a Character’s Eyes!** ✨📚

Dr. McClure’s **4C and 4D Language Arts scholars** have been digging deeper into character perspective! Over the past two weeks, students have learned that a character’s **perspective is how they “see” and experience the events in a story.** 👀📖

Students selected characters and became text detectives, using **evidence from the text** to explain how their characters **acted, thought, and felt**. 🔎💭❤️ By supporting their ideas with evidence, our Dolphins are strengthening their reading comprehension, critical-thinking, and analysis skills!

Way to go, 4C and 4D, for looking beyond the words on the page and seeing the story from a character’s point of view! 🐬💙💛
