During the first weeks of school, Mrs. Lewis’s 4th grade Social Studies class got creative with a sweet twist on geography — the **Ice Cream Cone “Where We Live” Project”! 🐬✨
Students built colorful paper ice cream cones, stacking scoops from smallest to largest location:
🏫 Class → Grade → School → City → County → State → Country → Continent → Planet → Galaxy 🌍🌌
This hands-on activity helped students learn how to identify and organize the different levels of where they live — from their own classroom all the way to our Milky Way galaxy! 🌟
📚 SC Social Studies Standards in Action (4th Grade):
4.G.1: Use geographic representations to explain relationships between locations and places in South Carolina, the United States, and the world.
4.G.1.1: Identify the absolute and relative location of places using geographic tools and terms.
This fun, memorable project not only reinforced mapping and location skills but also set the tone for an exciting year of learning about our place in the world. Way to go, 4th Grade Dolphins! 💪🐬

In Ms. McGurk’s class, several amazing Dolphins were caught “shining bright” 🌟 ten times — earning themselves the ultimate reward… a desk pet! 🐾✨
In our class, students earn a star each time they’re spotted on task, working hard, and doing their very best. Once they collect 10 stars, they get to choose a special desk pet to keep them company while they learn. 🐬📚
This fun reward celebrates positive habits, responsibility, and effort — and we couldn’t be prouder of our shining stars! Keep up the amazing work, Third Grade! 🙌

This week, our amazing First Grade Dolphins wrapped up another exciting Leader Loot drawing — celebrating students who have gone above and beyond to show respect, responsibility, and readiness to learn. 🐬✨
Throughout the week, these young leaders earned Leader Loot tickets by making positive choices and setting a great example for others. Every ticket was a chance to win, but the real prize is the leadership skills and positive habits they’re building every day! 💪
Each Friday, a few names are drawn at random, and our winners are recognized for their outstanding behavior and dedication to living out our school expectations. 🙌
We are so proud of our first graders for continuing to lead the way at NAUES — keep it up, Dolphins! 💛💙
Congratulations to this week’s First Grade “You Rock” Award winner! 🏆🐬
You were recognized for always being kind to everyone and trying your best every single day. Your positive attitude and effort make our Dolphin family shine! ✨
Keep up the amazing work — you truly rock! 🎉

Today, our NAUES fourth graders became smart shoppers using Food Lion sale flyers! 🛒🐬
They explored BOGO deals, worked within a set budget, and created their own grocery lists — recording the actual prices and rounding to the nearest dollar to stay on track.
This real-world math activity not only sharpened their addition, subtraction, and rounding skills but also helped them understand smart spending and financial decision-making — important life skills they’ll use for years to come!
📚 SC Math Standards in Action:
4.NSBT.4: Fluently add and subtract multi-digit whole numbers using the standard algorithm.
4.MDA.2: Solve real-world problems involving measurements and calculations.
4.NSBT.5: Apply place value to round multi-digit numbers to any place.
Way to go, fourth grade! You’re proving that math matters in the real world! 🏆✨

Help PTO kick this year into HIGH GEAR!!!!!!
Aug 11th – Aug 15th
Collection ends at 1:00 p.m. Friday, August 15th
Grades compete against one another to raise the most donations for the PTO. 100% of the funds raised go directly to the students. Please send in coins, cash, checks made out to North Augusta Elementary PTO, or donate online with the QR code below. Check the sofa cushions, pockets before doing laundry, cars, and safely check the ground while walking for extra money. Send money in an envelope with POD Race and your student’s grade marked on the envelope. Teachers will collect these and turn them into the PTO. If you’re donating online, be sure to select your child’s grade in the drop-down box.
Each day, money will be collected and the PTO Bulletin Board will be updated to show which grade is in the lead. Follow along on Facebook or listen for the school announcements for the update. The grade that raises the most money at the end of the week will win a Pizza Party and a prize. (Any grade that raises $600 or more will also win a pizza party.)
ALL money raised from pod racing will be used to support our students and teachers by providing grants to assist with field trips and other educational experiences for our children.

Some of our amazing 5th grade students stepped up in a big way this week by helping Mrs. Alee's young learners navigate their classroom centers. We’re so proud of their kindness, patience, and leadership. This is what Dolphin pride looks like in action! 💙🐬

Ms. Ryan’s 4th grade students at North Augusta Elementary put their number knowledge to the test this week by writing checks — a fun and practical way to practice writing multi-digit numbers in word form!
Using real-world financial literacy skills, students engaged in hands-on learning to strengthen their understanding of place value and number representation, key skills in the South Carolina College- and Career-Ready Standards for Mathematics:
📘 4.NSBT.2 – Read and write numbers through the hundred-thousands using standard form, word form, and expanded form.
This interactive activity gave students a taste of how math connects to everyday life — and they had a blast while doing it!
Way to go, 4th Grade Dolphins, for being responsible learners and applying your math skills in meaningful ways! 🐬💛💙

This past Friday (8/1/25), our fantastic First Grade Dolphins held their very first Leader Loot drawing of the school year — and what an exciting celebration of leadership it was!
Over the past few weeks, these young leaders have been working hard to demonstrate respectful behavior, responsibility, and positive choices across campus. As they modeled what it means to be a North Augusta Leader, students earned Leader Loot tickets — which were then entered into our weekly drawing.
🎟️ The more Leader Loot tickets earned, the better the chance of being selected — but the real reward is the positive habits being built every day. 💪
Each Friday in First Grade, a few lucky winners are drawn at random and celebrated for their outstanding behavior, leadership, and commitment to our school expectations. 🙌
We’re so proud of all our first-grade students for showing what it means to be Respectful, Responsible, and Ready to Learn — keep leading the way, Dolphins! 🐬✨

Our fabulous 5th grade Dolphins were on the move today, enjoying some friendly competition and fun in the sun during recess — and guess who joined in? None other than Mr. Badillo, our awesome principal! 💛💙
From kickball to football and everything in between, it was a blast watching students and leadership play side by side, showing that learning, teamwork, and joy extend far beyond the classroom.
At North Augusta Elementary, we believe in building strong minds AND strong connections! 💪🐬

Today, our amazing Kindergarten students in Mrs. Kowalchuk’s class enjoyed storytime — and what a success it was! 💛💙
We are so proud of these young learners for already showing model storytime behavior — sitting attentively, listening respectfully, and engaging thoughtfully with the book. From asking meaningful questions to making connections to their own experiences, our students are off to a fantastic start! 🌟
This fun and engaging activity supports the South Carolina College- and Career-Ready Standards for English Language Arts (ELA), including:
📖 K.RL.1 – With guidance and support, ask and answer questions about key details in a text.
👂 K.RL.10 – Actively engage in group reading activities with purpose and understanding.
💬 K.SL.1 – Participate in collaborative conversations with peers and adults about kindergarten topics and texts.
Way to go, Dolphins! 🐬 We’re excited to watch these bright minds grow and shine throughout the year!

We’re kicking off the school year with immense gratitude for the heart and hustle of our incredible leadership team — Principal Mr. Badillo, Assistant Principal Mrs. Boyd, and Assistant Principal Ms. Clark! 💛💙
From the moment our Dolphins step through the doors, this dynamic trio is there — offering high-fives, lending helping hands, and making sure every student feels seen, supported, and ready to learn. Today, Mr. Badillo even stepped in to assist with breakfast service 🍎🥣 — just one of the many ways our admin team goes above and beyond to ensure our students start their day with a smile.
Whether they’re leading with vision, supporting staff, solving problems behind the scenes, or rolling up their sleeves for the everyday details — their dedication is unmatched.
👏 Thank you, Mr. Badillo, Mrs. Boyd, and Ms. Clark, for leading with compassion, consistency, and care. Your daily efforts do not go unnoticed. We are so lucky to have you guiding our Dolphin family into another amazing school year! 🐬✨
