📚🔍 Text Feature Scavenger Hunt in 4th Grade! 🕵️‍♂️🕵️‍♀️ Mrs. DeLattre’s 4th grade class at North Augusta Elementary had a blast during a Text Feature Scavenger Hunt this week! Students became reading detectives as they searched through nonfiction texts, looking for clues like headings, captions, bold words, diagrams, glossaries, and more. Their mission? Find each text feature and explain how it helps the reader better understand the topic! This fun and interactive activity supports South Carolina ELA Standard 4-5.1, which encourages students to "explain how text structures and features contribute to the meaning and purpose of a text." 🎉 Exciting News from North Augusta Elementary! 🎉 At today’s Aiken County School Board meeting, it was officially announced that beginning with the 2025–2026 school year, North Augusta Elementary will have two assistant principals! Joining Mrs. Boyd and Principal Mr. Badillo, we are thrilled to welcome Mrs. Ashley Clark as our new Assistant Principal! 💙🐬 Mrs. Clark is no stranger to the Dolphin family or the North Augusta community. As a proud North Augusta native, she brings a deep love for our town and a powerful commitment to our students’ success. Her impressive background includes: 📘 B.A. in Elementary Education 🎓 M.A. in Divergent Learning 🎓 M.Ed. in Educational Leadership 🧑‍🏫 20+ years in education, including: • 17 years as a classroom teacher at Belvedere Elementary • 3 years as a District ELA Support Specialist • Currently serving as our Instructional Coach at NAUES We are incredibly lucky to have such a dedicated, experienced, and passionate leader joining our administrative team. 🌟 Kindergarten Scientists on the Move! 🌟 Today, all of our amazing kindergarten students from North Augusta Elementary had a fantastic adventure at the Ruth Patrick Science Education Center in Aiken, SC! 🚌✨ Their day was filled with hands-on exploration and curiosity-driven learning aligned with our South Carolina Kindergarten Science Standards. Our young learners participated in a variety of interactive sessions, sparking their love for science and discovery! 🔬💡 🔹 Turtle Talk – Students met live turtles and learned about habitats, adaptations, and animal needs. This directly supports SC Standard K.L.2A: understanding animals and their environments. 🔹 Weather in the Planetarium – Under a dome of stars, they explored weather patterns and seasons, tying into K.E.3A: observing and describing weather conditions. 🌦️✨ 🔹 Force & Motion – Through play and experimentation, students discovered how pushes and pulls can move objects. They even tested how ramps of different sizes affect motion, aligning with Standard K.P.4A. 🔹 Gears, Marble Mazes & Domino Chains – Critical thinking and creativity were on full display as students built gear systems, designed marble mazes, and set off domino chains. These activities promote understanding of cause and effect and foundational engineering skills, reinforcing concepts in K.P.4 and early STEM principles. ⚙️🌀🎯 We are so proud of our curious minds and thankful for the incredible educators and staff at Ruth Patrick who helped make this experience so memorable.
