Aiken High School’s Educators Rising would like to invite you and your children to enjoy “A Royal Family Ball” in the Aiken High School cafeteria. This event is for families with young children to experience a “prom-like” event, where they get to dress up in fancy clothes, dance to fun music, eat delicious snacks, make crowns, decorate “chalices,” enjoy other activities, and take pictures of the memories! Tickets are available on GoFan.com see the link below and QR Code in the picture. Costs are $5.00 for each child ages 3-years-old to 12-years-old (children 2 + under are free). All children must be accompanied by an adult family member (18-years-old and up). Costs for adult tickets are $10.00. ⚾🎓 Take us out to the ballgame — and the classroom! On May 6, our 2nd, 4th, and 5th grade students from North Augusta Elementary had the amazing opportunity to attend Education Day at SRP Park, home of the Augusta GreenJackets! 🐝📚 SRP Park was transformed into the biggest classroom in the CSRA, where baseball met learning in the best way possible. With education-themed exhibits, in-game contests, and a full Education Day Packet that connected baseball to English, Math, Science, and History, our students were learning while having a blast! 🧠⚾💡 Today’s matchup between the GreenJackets and the Hickory Crawdads (Texas Rangers) may have ended in a 3–1 loss, but the GreenJackets absolutely won our students' hearts! 💛💙 A huge THANK YOU to the Augusta GreenJackets and SRP Park for an unforgettable day of fun, learning, and teamwork! 🎉🥚 Cracking into Science and Culture! 🌎📚 Today, Mrs. Maikranz’s 1st Grade class at North Augusta Elementary School wrapped up their egg-cellent science unit on oviparous animals with a festive and meaningful celebration! In honor of Cinco de Mayo, our young scientists participated in a fun cultural tradition by breaking confetti eggs (cascarones) on each other’s heads—a playful way to wish one another good luck and happiness! This colorful tradition, rooted in Mexican culture and often seen during celebrations like Easter and Cinco de Mayo, gave our students a joyful and tangible way to connect science with diverse cultural practices. 🌟 What We Learned: 🧪 Students observed and compared different kinds of eggs, learned about animals that hatch from eggs, and explored life cycles—covering key concepts in South Carolina Science Standards 1.L.5A (Animals and their offspring, including life cycles). 🌍 Through this Cinco de Mayo activity, they also engaged in Social Studies Standard 1-2.4, which explores how customs and traditions contribute to identity and community.
