PALMETTO CIVICS PROJECT AN INITIATIVE OF THE SC DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION
Families are invited to participate in Summer SC 250 activities as South Carolina prepares to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the American Revolution and our state’s important role in our nation’s history. 📚☀️ Dolphin Reading Passport – Summer Reading Adventure 2026 ☀️📚

Summer is almost here, and North Augusta Elementary is excited to help our Dolphins continue growing as readers all summer long! 🐬✨ Research shows that reading during the summer helps students strengthen vocabulary, comprehension, confidence, and important reading skills. Even just 20 minutes of reading a day can make a BIG difference! 🌟

Our Dolphin Reading Passport Challenge runs from June 1 – July 31, 2026 and is designed to make reading FUN, flexible, and easy for families! Students can complete exciting reading activities like:

📖 Reading outside
🔦 Reading with a flashlight
📚 Visiting the library
🎧 Listening to an audiobook
🌧️ Reading on a rainy day
🐻 Reading to a stuffed animal
…and so much more!

📄 Dolphin Reading Passport forms were sent home last week, but families can also download a copy here:
https://www.acpsd.net/o/naues/article/2927730

🎉 Students who complete at least 15 activities and return their passport by Friday, August 7, 2026 will be entered into a drawing to win a FREE BOOK at our Fall Scholastic Book Fair! 📚✨

We also encourage families to explore the summer reading programs offered through the Aiken County Public Library and the Nancy Carson Library for even more reading fun this summer! ☀️📖

🐬💛💙 Today was a very special day at NAUES as we welcomed back graduating seniors who once walked our halls as NAUES Dolphins! 🎓💙💛

Our Senior Walk celebration gave these incredible students the opportunity to return to the place where their educational journey began and be celebrated for all they have accomplished. As they walked through the halls in their caps and gowns, our current students and staff cheered them on with excitement, pride, and admiration. 🎉👏

The smiles, hugs, and memories shared throughout the day were truly heartwarming. Many seniors were excitedly searching for former teachers, reconnecting with familiar faces who helped guide and encourage them along the way. Seeing those special reunions reminded us all of the lasting impact of the NAUES family. 💙

Most importantly, today’s Senior Walk served as an inspiration to our current Dolphins — showing them that with hard work, perseverance, and leadership, they too can achieve their dreams. 🌟

Congratulations to the Class of 2026! We are so proud of each of you and cannot wait to see all the amazing things your future holds. Once a Dolphin, Always a Dolphin! 🐬🎓

NAUES Celebrates Mrs. Allison Spires as the May “You Rock” Teacher Winner 🐬💛💙

North Augusta Elementary School is proud to recognize the incredible Mrs. Allison Spires as our May “You Rock” Teacher Winner! Mrs. Spires, a beloved third grade Language Arts and Social Studies teacher, has touched the hearts and lives of countless students, families, and fellow educators throughout her years at NAUES.

Mrs. Spires has a remarkable gift for connecting with her students on a personal level. Every child who walks through her classroom doors knows they are loved, valued, encouraged, and believed in. She works tirelessly each day not only to help her students grow academically, but also to help shape them into confident leaders and caring individuals. Her classroom has always been a place filled with warmth, laughter, encouragement, and meaningful relationships.

As Mrs. Spires prepares for retirement at the end of this school year, the impact she has made on generations of students is more evident than ever. Former students who return to visit NAUES almost always make it a priority to stop by and see Mrs. Spires, a true testament to the lasting impression she has left on so many lives. The love and admiration her students have for her extends far beyond the classroom walls.

Mrs. Spires is also known among her coworkers for her extraordinarily caring heart and servant leadership. Whether offering support, encouragement, or even volunteering to help a fellow teacher during difficult times, she consistently puts others before herself. Her kindness is genuine, selfless, and deeply appreciated by everyone around her.

In addition to her compassion, Mrs. Spires has the natural ability to brighten any room she enters. Her wonderful sense of humor, quick wit, and joyful personality have brought smiles and laughter to students and staff alike for many years. She has a special way of lifting spirits and making others feel seen, valued, and appreciated.

Mrs. Spires has been a blessing to North Augusta Elementary School, and while she will certainly be missed, her legacy of love, leadership, kindness, and dedication will continue to live on through the many students and educators she has inspired over the years.

Congratulations, Mrs. Allison Spires, on being named the May “You Rock” Teacher Winner! Thank you for the countless lives you have impacted and for the love and joy you have brought to the NAUES family. 💙💛🐬
