This week, October 20th–24th, we proudly celebrate our amazing NAUES bus drivers — the dedicated leaders who ensure our students arrive safely to and from school each day! 🚦✨
From the early morning routes to the afternoon drop-offs, our bus drivers go above and beyond to keep every Dolphin safe, cared for, and ready to learn. 🌟 They’re the first friendly face many students see each morning and the last encouraging wave at the end of the day! 🚌💛
Let’s take a moment to thank these everyday heroes for their patience, kindness, and commitment to safety. 🙌💙
If you see one of our bus drivers this week, give them a big “thank you!” for all they do to keep our school community moving. 💛🐬💙

🎨🍂 Fifth Grade Pumpkin Writing Project 🍂🎨
Our fifth graders in Mrs. Benson’s and Ms. Pope’s classes have been bursting with excitement all week as they put their creativity into action! With the wonderful help of members from the North Augusta High School Beta Club, students brought their narrative writing assignments to life by painting pumpkins inspired by their stories! 🎃✏️
These literary masterpieces will be on display this Thursday, October 23rd, during our Trunk or Treat & Literacy Night from 5:30–7:00 PM! Come see how our young authors and artists blended imagination, writing, and art into something truly special.
📚 SC 5th Grade ELA Standards Connection:
Students practiced skills from Standard 5.W.3—writing narratives to develop real or imagined experiences using effective technique, descriptive details, and clear event sequences—and Standard 5.W.4, producing clear and coherent writing appropriate to task, purpose, and audience.
💛 A huge thank you to our North Augusta High Beta Club volunteers for mentoring our students and helping them shine!
🍬 Candy Reminder: We’re still collecting candy donations for Trunk or Treat! Every bag helps make the night sweeter for our Dolphins. Drop donations off in the front office anytime this week.
Let’s celebrate creativity, community, and a little Halloween fun—see you Thursday night! 🐬💛💙

Our NAUES first graders had an udderly amazing day learning and exploring at Steed’s Dairy Farm! 💛💙🐬
From navigating the corn maze to watching a real-life cow milking demonstration, every moment was packed with hands-on learning and fun! Students also enjoyed a scenic hayride, met new furry friends at the petting zoo, and discovered how milk and other dairy products make their way from farm to table. 🐐🚜🥛
The adventure didn’t stop there—students had a blast on the giant slide, jumping pillow, and corn kernel pit, all while connecting what they’ve learned in class to real-world experiences. 🌽🎠
This field trip wasn’t just fun—it supported our learning goals in science and social studies, too!
📚 Educational Connections:
Science (1.L.5A & 1.L.5B): Exploring how plants and animals meet their needs and depend on each other in their environments.
Social Studies (1.2.P, 1.2.C): Understanding how goods are produced and how farms contribute to community life.
ELA (Inquiry & Writing): Gathering information, asking questions, and communicating learning through observation and experience.
What a wonderful day of learning by doing—thank you to our amazing first grade teachers, parent chaperones, and Steed’s Dairy for helping our Dolphins grow their curiosity and love for learning! 🌟🐬

Mrs. Odenweller’s third-grade students took their science learning outdoors this week! 🌞📚 Armed with clipboards, curiosity, and keen observation skills, students explored the natural world around them on a Nature Walk Investigation.
As part of their science unit on living and nonliving things, students identified and recorded examples of each—observing how sunlight, soil, water, and air interact with the plants, insects, and other living organisms they discovered. 🌻🐜 From tiny bugs crawling beneath leaves to towering trees swaying in the breeze, our young scientists were excited to make real-world connections to their classroom learning! 🌎✨
This hands-on activity supports the South Carolina Grade 3 Science Standard 3.L.5:
“Students will demonstrate an understanding of how the characteristics and behaviors of living things help them survive in their environments.”
Through investigation and exploration, our Dolphins are building observation, classification, and data collection skills—all while having fun outdoors! 💛💙🐬
