Mrs. Whisnant is known for her innovative teaching style and her ability to make learning come alive for her fifth-grade students. Whether she’s integrating hands-on art projects into her lessons or finding new and engaging ways to make challenging topics exciting, Mrs. Whisnant’s classroom is a place where creativity and curiosity thrive. Her students adore her, and her colleagues admire her gentle leadership and steady grace—especially when working with energetic fifth graders who keep her on her toes!
Beyond the classroom, Mrs. Whisnant shares her artistic talents throughout our school. She’s one of the gifted hands behind several of our beautiful new hallway murals and seasonal displays that bring warmth, color, and inspiration to our building. Mrs. Kowalchuk’s class had a blast exploring 2D shapes today using popsicle sticks! Students discovered that some shapes could be built easily while others could not—because shapes have straight sides and corners that make them unique. Through hands-on investigation, our youngest Dolphins practiced reasoning, problem-solving, and teamwork while learning about the attributes of shapes. 🌟
📏 Aligned South Carolina Kindergarten Math Standards:
K.G.2 — Analyze and compare two- and three-dimensional shapes in different sizes and orientations, describing similarities, differences, parts (e.g., sides and corners), and other attributes.

🎨🍂 Fifth Grade Pumpkin Writing Project 🍂🎨
Our fifth graders in Mrs. Benson’s and Ms. Pope’s classes have been bursting with excitement all week as they put their creativity into action! With the wonderful help of members from the North Augusta High School Beta Club, students brought their narrative writing assignments to life by painting pumpkins inspired by their stories! 🎃✏️
These literary masterpieces will be on display this Thursday, October 23rd, during our Trunk or Treat & Literacy Night from 5:30–7:00 PM! Come see how our young authors and artists blended imagination, writing, and art into something truly special.
📚 SC 5th Grade ELA Standards Connection:
Students practiced skills from Standard 5.W.3—writing narratives to develop real or imagined experiences using effective technique, descriptive details, and clear event sequences—and Standard 5.W.4, producing clear and coherent writing appropriate to task, purpose, and audience.
💛 A huge thank you to our North Augusta High Beta Club volunteers for mentoring our students and helping them shine!
🍬 Candy Reminder: We’re still collecting candy donations for Trunk or Treat! Every bag helps make the night sweeter for our Dolphins. Drop donations off in the front office anytime this week.

📸🐮 First Grade’s Fantastic Day at Steed’s Dairy! 🐄🌾
Our NAUES first graders had an udderly amazing day learning and exploring at Steed’s Dairy Farm! 💛💙🐬
From navigating the corn maze to watching a real-life cow milking demonstration, every moment was packed with hands-on learning and fun! Students also enjoyed a scenic hayride, met new furry friends at the petting zoo, and discovered how milk and other dairy products make their way from farm to table. 🐐🚜🥛

Our NAUES first graders had an udderly amazing day learning and exploring at Steed’s Dairy Farm! 💛💙🐬
From navigating the corn maze to watching a real-life cow milking demonstration, every moment was packed with hands-on learning and fun! Students also enjoyed a scenic hayride, met new furry friends at the petting zoo, and discovered how milk and other dairy products make their way from farm to table. 🐐🚜🥛

North Augusta Elementary School has resumed regular operations at this time.

Please note that North Augusta Elementary School has initiated the “Secure” Standard Response Protocol this morning. The school remains in secure at this time due to a report of an individual behaving in an unusual manner on the exterior of campus (looking in windows). Law enforcement is looking for him at this time and intends to place him on no trespass.
Additional updates will be shared as this situation is resolved.

From now until October 30, 2025, we’re collecting non-perishable food items to help provide meals to families across the CSRA.

📦 What to Bring: Canned goods & other non-perishable foods
Why it matters:
🍽️ 1 in 4 children in our region faces hunger — many sitting in classrooms just like ours, trying to learn while worried about food at home. By donating, you help deliver meals, hope, and support to families in 24 counties.
