MIDLAND VALLEY HIGH'S FIRST ANNUAL VALLEY RUN |99 MILES. 24 HOURS. EVERY STEP HAS A PURPOSE

In honor of Memorial Day, the Midland Valley High School community is coming together for a historic first. The Valley Run is officially underway.

Starting at 9:00 AM this morning, Superintendent Dr. Corey Murphy took the first steps of an inspirational 24-hour journey to honor the 99 brave service members from South Carolina who made the ultimate sacrifice in active duty.

"For those of us who have served, those of us that have known those that serve, and those who may have lost someone protecting our country, it’s a day of honor. It’s a day of reverence. Today we celebrate, honor, and remember those who gave the ultimate sacrifice in the defense of this country" shared Superintendent, Dr. Corey Murphy.

For every single mile conquered, a bell will ring, and the name of a fallen hero will be spoken aloud.

Come down to the track, line the path, and help us cheer these incredible runners through the day and night!

Set your alarms for tomorrow morning! Principal Higgenbottom will take to the track to run the final, ceremonial lap to bring this powerful event home. Let’s pack the stands to welcome our runners across the finish line!

Grab lunch, a cold drink, or a sweet treat while you show your support:

  • Samoan BBQ | 12:00 PM - 2:00 PM

  • Bubbly Bunch | 12:00 PM - 2:00 PM

  • Flannigan's Ice Cream | Keep an eye out for a potential sweet-treat visit!

  • (Shoutout to Palmetto Bowl, who was on-site from 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM kicking off our morning!)

Let’s show these runners, and the families of our fallen heroes, the true heart of The Valley and the Aiken County Public School District. See you at the track!

Happy Earth Day!

Today we are reminded that even the smallest actions can make a big impact. Across the District, students and staff are learning, leading and taking steps to care for our planet both in and out the classroom.

From recycling and conserving energy to planting and protecting green spaces, we are proud to see our schools making a difference every day. These efforts include Aiken Elementary's composting and "Maverick Miracle Cleaner" projects, South Aiken's vertical aeroponic tower gardens, and Ridge Spring-Monetta's FFA program and Annual Agricultural Day. At Midland Valley High, FFA and environmental students recently celebrated Earth Day and Arbor Day by relocating trees to the teacher parking lot, preparing the Stampede Falls trail for the cross-country track, and monitoring wildlife food plots.

These are just a few examples of how our schools are creating a cleaner, healthier future for generations to come!

Shout out something special that your school does below!

Innovation, Art, and Athletics: That’s a Wrap on Spring Intersession!

From the field to the art studio, our students didn't just spend the week learning, they spent it leveling up. The halls of North Augusta Middle were buzzing with the intensity of LEGO Wars and the creativity of Art Enrichment, while Aiken and Redcliffe Elementary became hubs for future engineers at our Coding Camps sponsored by SRNS.

The creativity continued with Fine Arts Coordinator Kimberly Fontanez’s much anticipated Dance Camp held at Aiken High, and High Schoolers across the District mastered the delicate craft of Stained Glass with local artist Stacy O’Sullivan at Midland Valley High School!

The action didn't stop there; our athletic programs were not outshined! Coach Tice and the Aiken High School’s Girl’s Soccer team had an incredible week of skill building on the pitch while Kennedy Middle hosted an unmatched Sports Camp led by Coach Shuford and Coach Edwards. They even welcomed First Tee of Aiken to the camp to get our young athletes "Masters-ready" for next week!

Whether they were building robots or perfecting their swing, our students made every moment of this Spring Intersession count.

Check out this week's highlights on Facebook and YouTube!
