With diplomas in hand and $74 million in scholarship offerings, the Aiken County Public School District (ACPSD) has officially closed out another impressive academic year as our high schools celebrated the commencement of the Class of 2026 at the USC Aiken Convocation Center! This year's graduating class proved to be an impressive powerhouse of academic, athletic, and vocational excellence, pulling in a staggering district-wide total of $74,373,828 in scholarship offers. Of the 1,622 diploma recipients who crossed the stage, 583 achieved Honor Graduate status, marking a triumphant milestone for the District.
These exceptional achievements are reflected in the diverse paths taken by graduates across the District. Leading the charge in sheer volume, North Augusta High School saw 400 graduates secure approximately $20 million in scholarships, with 169 honor grads paving the way. Meanwhile, Midland Valley High School celebrated 331 graduates and 93 honor grads who were awarded an impressive $16.8 million in scholarships. Midland Valley also proudly featured 28 students who earned associate degrees through the Early College Program, and two standout seniors who secured individual scholarship earnings over $1 million each. South Aiken High School also showed remarkably strong numbers, with 279 graduates bringing in nearly $6 million in scholarship offerings and sending over half its class to four-year institutions.
Academic excellence was earned across several campuses. Aiken High School celebrated 268 graduates who commanded $16 million in scholarships, produced 15 Palmetto Fellow qualifiers, and celebrated Valedictorian Aiden Lucas McElwain, who helped raise $30,000 for cancer research before heading to Clemson University on a pre-med track. The Aiken Scholars Academy recorded unparalleled success; 44 of their 46 graduates earned Honor Graduate distinction, amassing $5.23 million in scholarships. ASA achieved a flawless 100% college-and-career-ready rate, sending graduates to elite institutions like Princeton, Stanford, and the University of South Carolina Honors College.
Across the District, a powerful dedication to technical training, academic versatility, and immediate workforce entry defined the stellar performances at both Wagener-Salley and Ridge Spring-Monetta high schools. Wagener-Salley High School proudly sent 56 graduates into the next phase of life with $1.14 million in scholarships, driven by a strong commitment to local industry that will see over half the graduating class step directly into the workforce.
Equally inspiring, Ridge Spring-Monetta’s 58 graduates secured $3.19 million in scholarship dollars, demonstrating outstanding, well-rounded achievement across academic, career, and extracurricular pathways. This versatile class features three distinguished Palmetto Fellows, three students who have committed to serving our country through military enlistment, and graduates bound for higher education both within South Carolina and beyond—including one student continuing their academic journey in California.
The entire Class of 2026 has set a profound benchmark for future generations, filling our community with an overwhelming sense of pride. Whether our graduates are stepping directly into industrial careers, enlisting in the armed forces, or attending universities across the globe, they leave not just with diplomas, but as a shining testament to the dedication, resilience, and excellence cultivated right here in Aiken County.
