  • SOPHOMORE IGP MEETINGS -  The purpose of the Individual Graduation Plan (IGP) is to assist students and their parents in exploring educational and professional possibilities and in making appropriate secondary and postsecondary decisions.  An IGP consists of the state high school graduation requirements and/or college entrance requirements.  Parents and students will review course requests for the 2023-24 school year and make any changes needed.  We will also discuss student's attendance and current academic progress.  We need a parent/guardian to attend this very important conference with your students.   • CLEAR BAG PROCEDURE FOR ATHLETIC EVENTS - Effective beginning the 2022-23 school year, Aiken County Public School District has adopted a clear bag procedure for all home athletic events. Spectators will be permitted to carry one clear tote bag not to exceed 12” x 6” x 12” or a Ziplock style bag no larger than one gallon. A small clutch purse not to exceed 4.5” x 6.5” may also be carried. Seat cushions are permitted as long as they are no larger than 16” and do not include arms or pockets.  No diaper bags or camera bags will be allowed.

    Trustees Identify Highland Springs Student Zones Following Community Input

    School Board representatives identified the attendance lines for the District’s newest campus on March 7, 2023. “I am so pleased to see the ACPSD Board decision which unifies areas 2 and 3, Paige Day, Highland Springs Middle School’s (HSMS) Principal stated. “This decision will allow HSMS to move forward with competitive programming and to serve the needs of all of the families surrounding our school."

    Aiken Works National Groundhog Job Shadow Day

    Aiken Works celebrated its 4th Annual National Groundhog Job Shadow Day earlier this month with a record 1,137 Aiken County Public School District students in grades 8-12 participating, the most ever for this event. Students spent the day shadowing professionals at 518 area businesses.

    Experienced Turn-Around Coach To Lead AHS Football Hornets

    Dwayne Garrick will soon lead a new team of student athletes as the recently-selected Head Football Coach of the Aiken High School Hornets. The highly-regarded coach with more than 200 wins over the last 23 years and a reputation for turning around programs throughout the state says he’s been interested in the potential at Aiken High (AHS) for some time now. “It’s a spot that I’ve always had my eye on,” Garrick explained. “It will take some work. But, with the type of players there and coaches already in place, the program can be very successful.”

  •  Graham Pickrell Wins Spelling Bee

    Leavelle McCampbell Eighth-Grader Graham Pickrell Wins District Spelling Bee

    “Frugal.” That was the championship word Leavelle McCampbell Middle School eighth-grader Graham Pickrell spelled correctly Monday night at the Aiken County Public School District Spelling Bee. The District's Annual Spelling Bee was held at the Amentum Center for Performing Arts on February 6, 2023.
