🎉💛 First Grade Leader Loot Winners! 💙🎉
This week, our amazing First Grade Dolphins wrapped up another exciting Leader Loot drawing — celebrating students who go above and beyond to show respect, responsibility, and readiness to learn. 🐬✨
Throughout the week, these young leaders earned Leader Loot tickets by making positive choices and setting a great example for others. Every ticket was a chance to win, but the real prize is the leadership skills and positive habits they’re building every day! 💪
Each Friday, a few names are drawn at random, and our winners are recognized for their outstanding behavior and dedication to living out our school expectations. 🙌
We are so proud of our first graders for continuing to lead the way at NAUES — keep it up, Dolphins! 💛💙
🏆🐬 Congratulations to this week’s First Grade “You Rock” Award winner!
You earned this special honor because…
✨ You showed kindness even when someone wasn’t kind to you — you still shared your Leader Loot.
✨ You invited a classmate to play who didn’t have anyone to play with on the playground.
✨ You model perfect lunchroom manners every day.
Your kindness, empathy, and leadership make our Dolphin family shine! 🌟 Keep up the amazing work — you truly rock! 🎉

🚀🎈 Force + Motion = Fun Learning! 🎈🚀
Mrs. Icenhour’s 3rd Grade Scientists investigated force and motion this past week with an exciting balloon racing experiment! 🐬💛💙
💡 Did you know…
👉 The bigger the balloon, the greater the force it has?
👉 The greater the force, the faster it moves?
👉 And sometimes… the hardest part is just blowing up the balloon? 😅
Students had a blast experimenting, observing, and making discoveries through hands-on science! 🔬✨
📘 Standards Connection (3rd Grade SC Science):
3.P.3A.1 – Plan and conduct investigations to determine the effect of force on the motion of an object.
3.P.3A.2 – Analyze and interpret data to describe and predict how varying the strength of a force affects the motion of an object.
Way to go, Dolphin scientists! 🌟 #NAUES #STEMLearning #DolphinPride

🌟 Celebrating Big Wins in Dr. Moore’s Class! 🌟
Our kindergarteners are shining bright this week—they’ve begun earning their very first Math Brag Tags! These aren’t just fun tokens—they’re powerful symbols of growth, learning, and stepping-stones toward meeting South Carolina’s College-and-Career-Ready Standards in mathematics.
What’s a Brag Tag?
• An exciting little badge that each student earns when they’ve demonstrated mastery of key math skills.
• Once earned, they get to add it to their personal necklace—turning their learning journey into a wearable achievement.
• At the end of the year, they’ll take home the full collection: a beautiful, tangible record of all they’ve accomplished!
This Week’s Special Honors:
Students who counted confidently to 25, 50, or even 75—they’ve earned brag tags that showcase their number sense and mastery of counting. These skills align with South Carolina’s standards, including:
K.NS.1: Counting forward by ones and tens (up to 100) and K.NS.2: Beginning counting from any number less than 100
IXL Learning
rock-hill.k12.sc.us
.
Plus, building understanding that each number name corresponds to one more than the last, and that the last number counted equals the total objects—foundational principles highlighted in South Carolina’s Counting & Cardinality goals
Instructure
Education Oversight Committee
.
Why It Matters:
Each tag is a milestone—a small celebration of "I did it!" This visual—and wearable—progress not only motivates students, it also connects their everyday achievements to the rigorous standards they're meeting. Families, be sure to ask your child about their brag tags and share in their pride!

🎶 Feel the Beat at North Augusta Elementary! 🎶
Second graders in Mr. Palmer’s music class were grooving with rhythm sticks this week—and the energy was electric! With each tap, click, and beat, students explored how music is organized into sets of 2, 3, and 4 beats, learning all about meter in the most hands-on way. Whether it was duple, triple, or quadruple time, these young musicians were counting, moving, and jamming like pros!
🪵✨ Why rhythm sticks? They’re the perfect tool for helping students feel the beat, develop coordination, and connect movement to musical structure. Plus, they make learning rhythm super fun!
📚 Learning in Action This activity aligns with the South Carolina College- and Career-Ready Standards for Visual and Performing Arts (2020):
2.M.PR.4 – Demonstrate and describe how music’s expressive qualities (such as dynamics, tempo, and meter) can support a specific purpose.
2.M.CR.1 – Improvise rhythmic and melodic ideas, and describe connection to specific purpose and context.
2.M.R.3 – Identify and describe meter in music.
🎵 These young musicians are building a strong foundation in rhythm, creativity, and musical expression—one beat at a time!
📸 Stay tuned for more musical moments from Mr. Palmer’s class. At North Augusta Elementary, we don’t just learn music… we live it! 🎤💃

🍦💛 Fourth Grade “Where We Live” Project 💙🍦
During the first weeks of school, Mrs. Lewis’s 4th grade Social Studies class got creative with a sweet twist on geography — the **Ice Cream Cone “Where We Live” Project”! 🐬✨
Students built colorful paper ice cream cones, stacking scoops from smallest to largest location:
🏫 Class → Grade → School → City → County → State → Country → Continent → Planet → Galaxy 🌍🌌
This hands-on activity helped students learn how to identify and organize the different levels of where they live — from their own classroom all the way to our Milky Way galaxy! 🌟
📚 SC Social Studies Standards in Action (4th Grade):
4.G.1: Use geographic representations to explain relationships between locations and places in South Carolina, the United States, and the world.
4.G.1.1: Identify the absolute and relative location of places using geographic tools and terms.
This fun, memorable project not only reinforced mapping and location skills but also set the tone for an exciting year of learning about our place in the world. Way to go, 4th Grade Dolphins! 💪🐬

💛💙 Shining Bright in Third Grade! 💙💛
In Ms. McGurk’s class, several amazing Dolphins were caught “shining bright” 🌟 ten times — earning themselves the ultimate reward… a desk pet! 🐾✨
In our class, students earn a star each time they’re spotted on task, working hard, and doing their very best. Once they collect 10 stars, they get to choose a special desk pet to keep them company while they learn. 🐬📚
This fun reward celebrates positive habits, responsibility, and effort — and we couldn’t be prouder of our shining stars! Keep up the amazing work, Third Grade! 🙌

💛💙 Fourth Grade Dolphins Put Their Budgeting Skills to the Test! 💙💛
Today, our NAUES fourth graders became smart shoppers using Food Lion sale flyers! 🛒🐬
They explored BOGO deals, worked within a set budget, and created their own grocery lists — recording the actual prices and rounding to the nearest dollar to stay on track.
This real-world math activity not only sharpened their addition, subtraction, and rounding skills but also helped them understand smart spending and financial decision-making — important life skills they’ll use for years to come!
📚 SC Math Standards in Action:
4.NSBT.4: Fluently add and subtract multi-digit whole numbers using the standard algorithm.
4.MDA.2: Solve real-world problems involving measurements and calculations.
4.NSBT.5: Apply place value to round multi-digit numbers to any place.
Way to go, fourth grade! You’re proving that math matters in the real world! 🏆✨
