💛💙 4th Grade Readers Are Making BIG Brain Inferences! 🧠🐬
On Tuesday in Mrs. DeLattre’s classroom, our 4th grade Dolphins were working hard on an important reading skill—INFERENCING! 📚✨
Students got to get down and dirty in the best way—by writing directly on their desks (don’t worry… dry erase fun 😉) as they broke down:
✅ Text Evidence (what the author says)
✅ Schema / Background Knowledge (what we already know)
➡️ to create a strong, supported inference (what the text means)
This hands-on strategy made thinking visible and helped students understand that strong readers don’t just guess—they prove their thinking! 👏🐬

With the blistering cold weather upon us, our Fourth Grade GT students turned the season into an exciting learning opportunity! 😄🧠
Students have been exploring precipitation and blizzards as part of their natural disaster learning — discussing what causes severe winter weather and how it impacts people and the environment. 🌬️🌡️
At the same time, they’ve been sharpening their math skills by studying:
📏 Lines of symmetry
📐 Types of angles (acute, right, obtuse)
To connect it all together, students participated in a STEM Challenge where they designed and created their own unique snowflakes that demonstrate both symmetry and angles! ❄️📐✨

Today we celebrated a BIG milestone — 100 days of learning, growing, and shining! 🌟
Our school was filled with FUN and creativity as we marked the day in so many special ways:
👵🧓 Students & teachers dressed up like they were 100 years old
🧠 Classrooms celebrated being 100 days smarter
🔢 Students created amazing projects featuring 100 items (so clever!)
We are so proud of how far our Dolphins have come in just 100 days — and we’re just getting started! 🚀💛💙
👏 A HUGE thank you to our incredible teachers and staff for your dedication, encouragement, and hard work each day. Because of you, our students are truly 100 days smarter!

Optimism means choosing to look for the good, even when things feel difficult. It’s about believing that challenges can be overcome and that brighter days are ahead. Teaching children to be optimistic helps them:
✅ Build confidence
✅ Stay motivated
✅ Handle challenges in positive ways
✅ Develop resilience and a healthy mindset
This month’s discussion will help families talk about what optimism looks like at school, at home, and in everyday life — and how we can model it for our children.
