The Scholastic Book Fair will be at NEMS this week!! Visit our school's homepage to preview all the books and items that will be available. Also, consider setting up an eWallet for your student. It’s easy to set up and easy for others to contribute. eWallet lets your child shop independently and choose books they want to read. After the Fair, any unspent funds become a Scholastic eGift balance to use at a future Fair or to shop online.

Today, we proudly Purple Up in support of our military-connected students and families.

To our military families, thank you for your service, your strength, and the many sacrifices you make. We are honored to serve your children and celebrate them not just today, but every day.

"Purple up" with Aiken County Public Schools on Friday, April 17th, as we combine Air Force blue, Army green, Navy blue, Marine red, Space Force blue and Coast Guard blue and wear PURPLE in a demonstration of support for the families of those who serve.

Help us honor the month of The Military Family by showing your support for the families of those who serve by wearing purple and thanking a military family for their bravery and service below. Make sure to tag us in your Purple Up posts!

In ACPSD we are committed to supporting every military child and ensuring they feel seen, valued, and connected no matter where their journey takes them. Visit our Purple Star webpages which provide easy access to resources, support services, transition tools, and important information to help every child thrive.

We are trying out a new carline system at New Ellenton Middle!

Starting next week, we are asking everyone to use this link bit.ly/nemscarline to enter their child's name once they turn off of Main Street and are safely waiting in carline. This will help us run our carline more efficiently. If you cannot use the link, we will still have teachers at carline who are able to assist. We appreciate your help with this as we try something a little different!

In recognition of Tornado Awareness Month, our NEMS Art 1 students designed and built weather-proof houses, then tested them against strong winds using a leaf blower. Using a variety of materials, students worked to create structures strong enough to stand up to tornado-like conditions, and every single house survived the wind test! It was a fun, hands-on way to combine creativity, design, and real-world problem solving. We are so proud of our students for their creativity, teamwork, and effort!

Happy National School Librarian Week to our wonderful School Librarian, Ms. Tate, and a special shoutout to Mr. Hoffmaster, our amazing Library Aide! Ms. Tate does an incredible job creating a library space that keeps students engaged, excited, and wanting to come back for more. From book displays to competitions, incentives, puzzles, and art projects, there is always something new to discover in the library. She works hard to make the library a place where students feel welcomed, curious, and connected to reading. We also want to recognize Mr. Hoffmaster for all he does to support our students and school each day. From helping students find great books to assisting with technology and badges, he is always ready to help wherever needed. Happy Assistant Principal Appreciation Week to the wonderful Ms. Tripp! Since stepping into the Assistant Principal role in November, she has brought so much laughter, compassion, and heart to New Ellenton Middle School. As someone who already knew and loved our school community as a teacher, Ms. Tripp has continued to pour herself into supporting our students, families, and staff in countless ways. She has a special gift for working with parents, listening to students, and helping others feel heard and supported. As the only Assistant Principal in the building, she carries more than other APs—from discipline to testing to textbooks to buses—and she does it all with grace, patience, and a genuine care for people. We are incredibly thankful for Ms. Tripp and all she does for our school each day. NEMS is better because of her, and we are so lucky to have her on our team!
