Today, we celebrate and honor our incredible custodial team who work tirelessly every single day to keep North Augusta Elementary clean, safe, and welcoming for our students, staff, and families. 🐬✨
Our custodians are true behind-the-scenes heroes — from early mornings to late evenings, they ensure our classrooms shine, our hallways sparkle, and our campus feels like home. Their kindness, hard work, and dedication do not go unnoticed, and we are so grateful for the many ways they care for our Dolphin family. 💙
To our wonderful custodians: thank you for all that you do. You make a difference each and every day, and NAUES would not be the same without you! 🌟

This month we are excited to celebrate and honor our amazing principal, Mr. Badillo! 🐬💛💙
Mr. Badillo leads North Augusta Elementary with vision, dedication, and heart. His commitment to our students, teachers, and families inspires all of us each day. Whether he is greeting students with a smile in the morning, sharing one of his famous daily dad jokes, supporting teachers, or encouraging leadership through the 7 Habits, Mr. Badillo always puts students first and works tirelessly to make NAUES a place where every Dolphin belongs and thrives.
We are so thankful for his leadership, kindness, sense of humor, and the positive energy he brings to our school community. 💛
Please join us in celebrating and showing appreciation for all he does for our school! Drop a thank-you, a favorite memory, or maybe even your favorite dad joke in the comments below. 👏🐬

This month, our students will be learning about Habit 3: Put First Things First from The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People and The Leader in Me program.
💡 What does this mean?
Habit 3 reminds us to focus on what matters most. It’s about prioritizing important tasks before less important ones—working first, then playing. By organizing time around personal goals and responsibilities, students learn to minimize distractions and make choices that reflect their values and mission.
✨ Why is this important?
Helps students set goals and accomplish them
Builds responsibility and time management skills
Encourages balance between school, family, and fun
Throughout October, we’ll practice this habit together at school—and families can help at home by talking with children about setting priorities, making daily schedules, and celebrating progress on important tasks before moving to free time.
💛💙 Let’s all commit to “Putting First Things First” as we work toward our goals this month!

“We See You. We Welcome You. You Belong Here. North Augusta Elementary.”
It also proudly features our reminder: “Once a Dolphin, Always a Dolphin!”
This inspiring mural was created by the talented team of Mrs. Whisnant, Ms. Pope, Mrs. Rutland, and Ms. Null.
🌟 Mural #2
At the back hallway, you’ll find a vibrant and colorful design with the words:
“Be Creative. Be Brave. Be Amazing. Be You!”
Three students are pictured shining with confidence, encouraging all of us to embrace who we are.
A huge thank you to Mrs. Todd, Mrs. Icenhour, and Ms. Brown for bringing this vision to life!

Our Fourth Grade Dolphins wowed their classmates, teachers, and families this week with their Informational Animal Research Posters! 🦁🐧🐢 Students were randomly assigned an animal and worked completely at school to research, write, and design a detailed informational poster.
Each poster had to:
✅ Include 3 or more text features that connected information (like diagrams, captions, charts, or maps).
✅ Contain no more than 5 spelling errors.
✅ Demonstrate all three types of text structures.
✅ Be organized with strong paragraphs and subheadings.
✅ Use proper nouns and correct capitalization.
Once completed, the posters were proudly displayed throughout the Fourth Grade pod. 🎉 Parents and visitors enjoyed walking through the gallery as our students confidently presented their research findings, showing off not only what they learned—but also their ability to communicate clearly and effectively. 💛💙
📘 Standards in Action:
This project touched on key South Carolina College- and Career-Ready ELA Standards for Grade 4, including:
RI.4.1, RI.4.2, RI.4.5, RI.4.7, RI.4.8, RI.4.9 – Reading informational texts, identifying main ideas, analyzing text structures, and integrating information from multiple sources.
W.4.2, W.4.4, W.4.7, W.4.8, W.4.9 – Writing informative texts, using research skills, and presenting findings in an organized way.
SL.4.4, SL.4.5, SL.4.6 – Presenting information clearly with visual displays to support understanding.

👏 A huge congratulations to our hardworking Fourth Grade students for their dedication, creativity, and academic excellence! You truly brought your animals to life through research and presentation. 🐾✨

Today’s focus was on Respect — a core value that strengthens our families, friendships, and school community. Dads and their children spent quality time together talking, sharing, and learning about what it means to treat others with kindness, value differences, and listen with an open heart. 💙
Respect can be shown in many simple yet powerful ways, such as:
🌟 Listening when someone is speaking
🌟 Using kind words and manners
🌟 Valuing others’ ideas, even when they are different from your own
🌟 Treating others the way you would like to be treated
We are so grateful to all the dads and father figures who joined us today — your presence and support make such a positive impact. Thank you for helping us teach our Dolphins the importance of respect both in and out of the classroom! 💛

As part of our Library’s Fall Into a Good Book Reading Event, students each read a book, wrote about their favorite part, and gave it a star rating. To showcase their reviews, they decorated festive pumpkins shapes, that bring their stories to life. 🎃💛💙
Mrs. Avila’s students were so excited to share their hard work, and we are so proud of their effort and enthusiasm for reading! 🐬📖 What a wonderful way to combine fall fun with a love of books. 🌟
