April is the Month of the Military Child. Meet our teachers that were military brats (raised by a military parent/guardian). Military brats move every 2-4 years and can face 6-9 school changes before high school graduation. This resilience is why the flower that represents military brats is the dandelion. Our teachers include:
April Koonce, US Army (Father), 20 years Active Duty, 1 Move
Renee Merion, US Air Force (Father), 11 years, 4 Moves
Meredith Noland, US Navy (Father), 20 Years, No Moves
Michelle O'Rourke, US Air Force (Step-Father), 24 Years, No Moves
Anya Stewart, US Army (Father), 20 Years, 1 Move
Emily Amenson Lamar, US Marine Corps (Step-Father), 3 Moves

Get ready to celebrate our military-connected students in April – the Month of the Military Child! Throughout the month, Student 2 Student will show our appreciation for military children. All of NAHS can join in the celebration with our District for the Month of the Military Child Spirit Week on April 21 through April 25. The Spirit days are as follows: Monday, April 21: Superhero Monday – dress as your fave superhero (or just wear their shirt); Tuesday, April 22: Crazy Camo Tuesday – the crazier the camo the better!; Wednesday, April 23: World Wide Wednesday – Dress to represent a different country; Thursday, April 24: Red, White, and Blue Thursday – wear our Nation’s colors from head to toe; Friday, April 25: Purple Up Friday – wear as much purple as you can!

North Augusta High hosted the High School Battle of the Books Competition! We were thrilled to have our largest turnout yet for this competition at the high school level. The schools competing included North Augusta High, Aiken High, South Aiken High, Aiken Scholars Academy, Wagener-Salley, and even Strom Thurmond! Although Aiken Scholars took home the trophy, we are so proud of our NAHS participants: Jade Garrett (Captain), Sophia LaFont, Aaliyah Salley, and Gianna Guilbeault. We also want to thank Pablos Mexican Restaurant in North Augusta for sponsoring the competition and assisting us with the luncheon.

On Monday, North Augusta High School seniors had the incredible opportunity to take part in Youth Appreciation Day 2025! Students stepped into leadership roles, experiencing firsthand how local government operates. They toured key city facilities, including the Water Treatment Plant, Public Safety Fire Station, and SRP Park, gaining insight into essential city services.
Later in the evening, they attended the City Council meeting, where Mayor Briton Williams and the Council recognized their participation. A special presentation was made in partnership with the Optimist Club and City of North Augusta.
A huge congratulations to our future leaders for their engagement and commitment to our community!
