Ms. Ryan’s 4th grade students at North Augusta Elementary put their number knowledge to the test this week by writing checks — a fun and practical way to practice writing multi-digit numbers in word form!
Using real-world financial literacy skills, students engaged in hands-on learning to strengthen their understanding of place value and number representation, key skills in the South Carolina College- and Career-Ready Standards for Mathematics:
📘 4.NSBT.2 – Read and write numbers through the hundred-thousands using standard form, word form, and expanded form.
This interactive activity gave students a taste of how math connects to everyday life — and they had a blast while doing it!
Way to go, 4th Grade Dolphins, for being responsible learners and applying your math skills in meaningful ways! 🐬💛💙

This past Friday (8/1/25), our fantastic First Grade Dolphins held their very first Leader Loot drawing of the school year — and what an exciting celebration of leadership it was!
Over the past few weeks, these young leaders have been working hard to demonstrate respectful behavior, responsibility, and positive choices across campus. As they modeled what it means to be a North Augusta Leader, students earned Leader Loot tickets — which were then entered into our weekly drawing.
🎟️ The more Leader Loot tickets earned, the better the chance of being selected — but the real reward is the positive habits being built every day. 💪
Each Friday in First Grade, a few lucky winners are drawn at random and celebrated for their outstanding behavior, leadership, and commitment to our school expectations. 🙌
We’re so proud of all our first-grade students for showing what it means to be Respectful, Responsible, and Ready to Learn — keep leading the way, Dolphins! 🐬✨

Our fabulous 5th grade Dolphins were on the move today, enjoying some friendly competition and fun in the sun during recess — and guess who joined in? None other than Mr. Badillo, our awesome principal! 💛💙
From kickball to football and everything in between, it was a blast watching students and leadership play side by side, showing that learning, teamwork, and joy extend far beyond the classroom.
At North Augusta Elementary, we believe in building strong minds AND strong connections! 💪🐬

Today, our amazing Kindergarten students in Mrs. Kowalchuk’s class enjoyed storytime — and what a success it was! 💛💙
We are so proud of these young learners for already showing model storytime behavior — sitting attentively, listening respectfully, and engaging thoughtfully with the book. From asking meaningful questions to making connections to their own experiences, our students are off to a fantastic start! 🌟
This fun and engaging activity supports the South Carolina College- and Career-Ready Standards for English Language Arts (ELA), including:
📖 K.RL.1 – With guidance and support, ask and answer questions about key details in a text.
👂 K.RL.10 – Actively engage in group reading activities with purpose and understanding.
💬 K.SL.1 – Participate in collaborative conversations with peers and adults about kindergarten topics and texts.
Way to go, Dolphins! 🐬 We’re excited to watch these bright minds grow and shine throughout the year!

We’re kicking off the school year with immense gratitude for the heart and hustle of our incredible leadership team — Principal Mr. Badillo, Assistant Principal Mrs. Boyd, and Assistant Principal Ms. Clark! 💛💙
From the moment our Dolphins step through the doors, this dynamic trio is there — offering high-fives, lending helping hands, and making sure every student feels seen, supported, and ready to learn. Today, Mr. Badillo even stepped in to assist with breakfast service 🍎🥣 — just one of the many ways our admin team goes above and beyond to ensure our students start their day with a smile.
Whether they’re leading with vision, supporting staff, solving problems behind the scenes, or rolling up their sleeves for the everyday details — their dedication is unmatched.
👏 Thank you, Mr. Badillo, Mrs. Boyd, and Ms. Clark, for leading with compassion, consistency, and care. Your daily efforts do not go unnoticed. We are so lucky to have you guiding our Dolphin family into another amazing school year! 🐬✨

Message from Karen Ulmer, Attendance Clerk | kulmer@acpsd.net
Dear NAUES Dolphin Families,
We are so excited to begin another wonderful school year together! To help ensure a smooth start to every school day, we kindly ask that you please take a moment to review the following important attendance procedures:
🕰️ Tardies
Tardies are counted daily. To be considered on time, students must be in their classrooms by 7:30 AM. If your child arrives after this time, a parent or guardian must walk them into the building to sign them in at the front office.
📧 Absence Notes
When your child returns to school after being absent, please send a note via:
Email: kulmer@acpsd.net
A handwritten note
Or a message through your child’s teacher
📌 Sign-Out Policy
To minimize classroom disruptions and maintain student safety:
No early sign-outs after 2:00 PM unless there is an emergency.
Phone calls cannot be accepted for student sign-ins or sign-outs. A parent, guardian, or approved adult must be present in person with proper identification.
We truly appreciate your partnership in helping our Dolphins get the best possible start and finish to each school day. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to me directly.

During the exciting first week of school, students in Ms. McGurk’s class at North Augusta Elementary focused on developing friendships and building a positive classroom environment! 🌟
Through collaborative poster projects, students explored and illustrated different ways they can be helpful, kind, and respectful classmates. From sharing supplies to using kind words, their posters reflected the values that will shape a successful and caring classroom community all year long. 🖍️📝✨
This activity supports South Carolina Social Studies Standard 3-1.4, which encourages students to:
"Explain the role of rules and laws in the home, school, and community and the consequences of breaking them."
By identifying helpful behaviors and working as a team, these third graders are learning what it means to be responsible, respectful citizens—starting right in their own classroom! 🌈👏

Today, students in Mrs. Whisnant’s class at North Augusta Elementary dove deep into the world of reading comprehension! 🧠💡
They kicked off their literacy lesson by reading a fascinating informational text about birds engaging in a surprising behavior known as “anting.” 🐦🪲 This curious habit sparked thoughtful discussion and laid the foundation for exploring main ideas and supporting details.
Working together, students then tackled two additional nonfiction passages, applying their analytical skills to uncover the central ideas and explain how supporting details strengthened those ideas. 💬📖
This lesson aligns with South Carolina College- and Career-Ready ELA Standard 5.RI.2, which emphasizes:
“Determine two or more main ideas of a text and explain how they are supported by key details; summarize the text.”
Our fifth graders showed amazing teamwork and critical thinking—way to go, Dolphins!
