Ms. Bashline's 8th grade students learned about the split of the Carolinas last week. Students worked together to research the division of North Carolina and South Carolina using new and old academic vocabulary and their impressive reading comprehension skills. Students also made connections and comparisons to other national and state “breakups," such as the split of the Dakota Territory and North and South Korea.

This week, Ms. Holley's students became roller coaster engineers, and they were hired to save the fictitious local theme park! Not enough people are visiting because the rides are old and boring. The engineers in Ms. Holley’s class were been hired to design a thrilling roller coaster, to attract more people and save the park! They may only use construction paper, paper plates, and tape. Stay tuned to the NEMS Facebook page and Live Feed to see the final products!

Silver Bluff High School has their last football game, Senior Night on Halloween Night, October 31, 2025. Student Government is hosting Trunk or Treat that night from 6-7 pm, right before the game starts at 7:30 pm. SBHS would love to see everyone there! A game ticket must be purchased for game entry, but the Trunk or Treat is free!

Many of our students have done this since they started school, and they are experts at "sit and scoot," but there's always something fun about going out of the back door of the bus! Thanks to Area 5 Bus Drivers and Transportation Office for a great drill!

The NEMS Band will have their Fall Concert on Tuesday, October 28th at 6:30pm in the gym. Call time for students is 6:00pm. Students should wear concert black and are expected to remain with the band during the performances. We look forward to sharing a night of music with you!

NEMS Tidal Wave Car Wash Fundraiser--Last Day to turn in forms and money is Thursday, October 2. You can bring your money and forms to the school each day this week between 8:30 am and 5 pm. These make great stocking stuffers!
