Gloverville Families,
Welcome back! We are excited for a new school year to start. It was great seeing many returning students and getting to meet some of our new students at Gloverville Elementary.
As we start the school year, we will have to be a little adaptive and have some patience. The main office is pretty much finished with construction, and we are waiting on our final inspection to move back in. For now, we will have a sign out front to point to Door 2, which is the main entrance for parents coming to the school at the moment. For those of you new to us—or if you do not know—we are having a vestibule added to the main entrance. It will take some getting used to, but it will create a safer entrance to our school building.
Additional construction projects will also be completed throughout the school year, including:
New and improved windows on the lower level and 2nd/3rd-grade hallways.
New desks, tables, and chairs for classrooms.
An awning on the lower level for the car line.
More fencing by the upper playground.
Back to School Reminders:
School Hours: The school building opens at 7:00 am. Students are not to be dropped off prior to 7:00 am. The school day for students runs from 7:30 am until 2:30 pm. Dismissal is at 2:30 pm.
Tardy Bell: The tardy bell rings at 7:30 am. If you arrive after 7:30 am, you will need to walk your child into the office and sign them in.
Morning Drop-Off: Car riders in the morning are all dropped off in front of the school off Pine Street. Students are dropped off under the awning and will walk into the front entrance of the building. If they want breakfast, they will go to the cafeteria first. Students will eat breakfast in the cafeteria and then go to their designated area prior to 7:30 am. Our Pre-K students will gather in the Art room, 5K–1st grade students in the library, 2nd–3rd grade students in our back hallway, and 4th–5th grade students in the 4th-grade hallway.
Afternoon Dismissal: All Pre-Kindergarten through 2nd-grade car riders are dismissed from the primary wing (School Street). When lining up, there are NO RIGHT turns into the car line.
3rd through 5th-grade students are dismissed from the front entrance (Pine Street). We will load the cars lined up under the awning, then move up the line and start the process over again. Note: If a 3rd–5th grade student has younger siblings, they should go to the Primary Wing to be dismissed together.
Transportation Changes: ALL transportation changes must be made in writing. NO changes will be accepted over the phone. Changes cannot be made after 2:00 pm. If there is a change, please ensure you send a note with your student to give to their teacher.
Bus Transportation:
In order to ride the bus, students must have a bus transportation form filled out during online registration or via your parent portal. Students are only allowed to ride the bus if you signed up for bus transportation prior to the first day of school. Pickup/drop-off times and locations are available in your Parent Portal.
If you need to change an address or add someone to pick a student off the bus, you will need to come to the main office and fill out a form we have. Then we will make the changes in PowerSchool for you. That is how the Transportation Office will get the changes.
PTO:
Please join our PTO! They are a vital part of our school and host many events, in addition to providing treats for the students throughout the school year. Please be on the lookout for a PTO Sign-Up form coming soon.
