A big thank you to everyone who joined us for the Aiken County Career & Technology Center’s (ACCTC) Community Night on Tuesday, October 29.

In addition to an opportunity to learn about the career center’s offerings, it was an exciting evening as Principal David Harris and CTE Executive Director Kenny Lott unveiled ACCTC’s new logo, a powerful symbol of innovation, opportunity, and progress for Aiken County students.

The new logo reflects the future of Career and Technical Education in Aiken County where students gain the hands-on experience and advanced skills that prepare them for college, careers, and lifelong success.

We’re also looking ahead to next school year, when ACCTC will open its new, state-of-the-art facility on the campus of Aiken Technical College.

Thank you to our community, partners, and elected officials for helping make this vision a reality. Together, we’re building the future of Aiken County’s workforce.

To read more and watch the news highlight of the logo unveiling please visit the ACCTC Community Night page.

Team Member Monday| Employee of the Month

Congratulations to our September Employee of the Month--Sandra Ramirez from Hammond Hill Elementary!

Sandra is more than reliable—she’s consistently exceptional. She’s always punctual, always willing to step in wherever needed, and continually looks for meaningful ways to support students with behavioral needs. Where others might hesitate in the face of a challenge, Sandra leans in with curiosity and compassion, often asking, "What’s the antecedent here?" Her understanding of behavior analysis is just one more way she brings expertise and heart to her work every day.

Thank you for inspiring excellence every day!

During Fall Intersession, the “Lego Wars” Camp brought creativity, collaboration, and problem-solving to life at Highland Springs Middle School, with students from 10 Aiken County middle schools participating.

Throughout the four-day camp, students became teams of architects, challenged to design a community center or venue for teenagers to help address a real-world issue: “After severe storms, neighborhoods are experiencing blocked roads and limited access to supplies. Create a Technic rescue vehicle that can clear debris, deliver supplies, or even carry mini Lego people to safety. Also, build a relief supply shop where the community can pick up emergency kits, food, and water."

Using STEAM principles and the Engineering Design Process, students worked in teams as they brainstormed, built, and refined their designs before presenting their final projects to a panel of judges.

"We’re extremely proud of these students for showcasing teamwork, creativity, and forward-thinking as they stepped into the role of architects and took on a real-world design challenge”, shared Dr. Kimberly Fontanez, District Fine Arts Coordinator.
