PURPLE UP FOR MILITARY FAMILIES | FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 14
ACPSD encourages all students, staff, and families to wear PURPLE on Friday, November 14 as we celebrate the Month of the Military Family!
This special day is our way of showing appreciation and support for the incredible military families who sacrifice and serve alongside their loved ones.
THANK YOU to our military families for your dedication, resilience, and service to our nation.
Join us in honoring our heroes—both at home and abroad—by wearing purple with pride!
Throughout November, schools across the district are recognizing Veterans Day and the Month of the Military Family with special celebrations and activities to honor the veterans and active-duty heroes in our community and across the country.
Let’s turn our schools PURPLE Friday, November 14!

To ensure the safety and security of all attendees, Aiken County Public Schools will not permit masks, face paint, or any full-face coverings at football games on Friday, October 31.
Additionally, all middle school students and younger must be accompanied by an adult for entry and throughout the event.
We appreciate your cooperation and understanding as we work together to maintain a safe, positive, and family-friendly environment. Thank you for supporting our student-athletes and showing your school spirit responsibly.

SOUTH CAROLINA COMMISSION ON HIGHER EDUCATION KICKED OFF COLLEGE APPLICATION MONTH AT SOUTH AIKEN HIGH
South Aiken High School hosted South Carolina Commission on High Education's (CHE) first event in the state this season, in which representatives from multiple universities such as Winthrop, Paine College, USC Aiken, Aiken Tech and Lander spoke about their institutions and helped seniors fill out applications.
During College Application Month, which runs from August to November, students have the chance to take advantage of waived application fees.
According to South Aiken High’s Principal Sam Fuller, 190 students signed up to participate in the event. “I just love to see them finding ways to be successful,” he said.
Kathy Rollins, the commission’s college access program manager and a first-generation college student herself, said she’s passionate about helping students explore the possibilities of higher education.
“I feel like there are so many times in our lives that we don’t know what the opportunities are because nobody’s ever presented them to us. And so I feel like it’s important for everybody to know that they have that opportunity,” she said.

PARENT/GUARDIANS-WELCOME TO ROOMS!
Classroom/Club/Team to Parent/Guardian/Student Communication
Rooms is a two-way communication tool that teachers, club sponsors, and athletic coaches will be using to connect our classrooms, clubs and teams to families. Rooms is similar to other platforms that you may be familiar with for two-way communications (such as Remind, Class Dojo, Band App, Bloomz, etc.). Instead of all of those apps, parents/guardians are asked to download each year, all teachers, coaches, club sponsors in our District will be using Rooms, and this two-way communications tool is built right into our District’s mobile app!
PARENT/GUARDIAN ACTION NEEDED: COMPLETE SETUP FOR YOUR ACCOUNT IN ROOMS
The initial setup to “complete your account” for Rooms is all that’s needed for parents/guardians to connect to Rooms. If you completed this last year, you’re all set! If not, as your child’s teacher/coach/school shares messages in Rooms, you will receive a notification through the contact information provided during registration. Please ensure that your phone number and email are up to date in PowerSchool. Your school’s Student Information Clerk can assist with any updates that may be needed.
Once you set up your account in Rooms, connection to your student’s assigned teachers will be part of a nightly sync with our student information system (PowerSchool). Then, your account and two-way communication will transition as your student moves to new teachers each semester, grade level, and even as they move to a new school in Aiken County or new level (elementary to middle; middle to high). This enhanced school-to-home communications tool will keep communication open, automatic, and translated to your preferred language (if needed) from now through your students’ 12th grade year.
PARENT/GUARDIAN ACTION NEEDED: DOWNLOAD ACPSD’S NEW MOBILE APP
If you’ve not already done so, please also download Aiken County Public Schools’ mobile app available on the App and Google Play Store (Aiken County Public Schools SC). Through this one app, you’ll be able to view District and school news and information as well as Rooms and Messages to communicate directly with your students’ teachers. You may also focus your smartphone camera on the QR Code below for the direct link to download our District’s mobile app.

Thank you for taking a few minutes to complete setup for your Account in Rooms and download Aiken County Public Schools’ mobile app! I look forward to keeping the lines of communication open so that we can work together to support your student in achieving his/her personal best!
