North Augusta Elementary School’s second-grade students will soon participate in important academic assessments designed to measure reasoning and achievement skills. Testing will begin in mid-October and parents are encouraged to mark their calendars with the scheduled dates.
CogAT Testing
The Cognitive Abilities Test (CogAT) will be administered on October 14th, 15th, and 16th. This assessment helps educators better understand students’ reasoning abilities in verbal, quantitative, and nonverbal areas. To minimize disruptions during these sessions, students will not be signed out while testing is in progress.
IOWA Testing
Following the CogAT, students will complete the IOWA Assessments on October 17th and 22nd. The IOWA focuses on academic achievement, measuring how well students have learned skills in reading, math, and other subject areas. These results, combined with CogAT data, provide teachers and administrators with valuable information to support student learning.
Supporting Student Success
Parents can help set their children up for success by ensuring they:
Arrive to school on time each testing day
Get a good night’s sleep before each test
Eat a healthy breakfast to fuel focus and attention
North Augusta Elementary appreciates the support of families as second graders prepare for this important milestone. Together, we can help all students shine! 💛💙🐬
