On Friday, July 31, 4K students at several Aiken County Public Schools elementary schools were greeted with a heartwarming surprise.

Members of the Aiken County Sheriff's Office visited classrooms to deliver Mickey and Minnie Mouse plush toys to pre-kindergarten students in memory of Javeayah Harris, a four-year-old child who tragically lost her life earlier this year.

The loss of Javeayah has deeply impacted the Aiken community and the members of the Aiken County Sheriff's Office who investigated the case. It also weighed heavily on the Fox family. Carrie Fox, a recently retired ACPSD 4K teacher, and her husband, a former ACPSD employee, along with their daughter, who serves with the Sheriff's Office, wanted to do something meaningful to honor Javeayah's memory.

The Fox family began creating and selling 3D-printed pink ribbons in Javeayah's honor, with the goal of purchasing Mickey and Minnie plush toys for every 4K student at J.D. Lever Elementary School, the school Javeayah was zoned to attend.

What began as a small act of kindness quickly grew into a community-wide effort. Thanks to the overwhelming support they received, the Fox family raised enough money to provide plush toys for 4K students at four additional elementary schools. They also invited members of the Aiken County Sheriff's Office to help distribute the gifts.

"My family felt like the Sheriff's Office needed to see happy, healthy children receiving a gift in memory of such a special little girl," Carrie Fox shared.

On Friday, students at J.D. Lever Elementary School, Aiken Elementary School, East Aiken School of the Arts, North Aiken Elementary School, and Warrenville Elementary School received these special gifts in Javeayah's memory.

The gesture served as a meaningful reminder that even in the face of unimaginable tragedy, a community can come together to honor a young life with compassion, generosity, and hope for other children. Thank you to the Fox family, the Aiken County Sheriff's Office, and everyone who supported this heartfelt effort to ensure Javeayah's memory continues to inspire acts of kindness, compassion, and love.
