Eleanor Brummond started playing softball at 8 years old. By the time she was in 8th grade, she started playing competitively, and she joined the North Augusta High School Softball team her freshman year. Her talent on the field caught the attention of recruiters at Harvard University, and her talent in the classroom solidified her acceptance. She recently committed to playing for the Harvard Crimson Softball team!
Brummond stated when they first reached out; she was shocked. However, she knew she still had to go through their rigorous application process, which included numerous essays and interviews. She also made visits to see the school and met her future teammates. She immediately fell in love with both, primarily due to the culture of excellence exhibited both on and off the field.
She credits the continued support of many teachers here at NAHS, including Dr. Ball, Mrs. Amenson Lamar, Mr. Emerling, and Mr. Salley, for pushing her to do her best, and in their support of the unique journey in applying to an Ivy League School.
Her teammates at NAHS were thrilled to hear of her commitment to such a prestigious school and appreciated her encouragement to them in working through the college application process, which can be daunting to many!
Outside of NAHS, she has also volunteered at the Children’s Hospital of Georgia, turning patient drawings into stuffed animals to aid in their healing process. This passion has led her to potentially pursue a career in the medical field helping children.
We are so proud of Eleanor and all her accomplishments! WAY TO GO JACKET!
