On Tuesday, Sept. 1st, SRP Federal Credit Union announced a new investment in education initiative that focuses on elementary education.
During their kickoff event at the WOW! Club at SRP Park in North Augusta, leaders from SRP Federal Credit Union shared their new program, Investing in Education: Unlimited Possibilities, with CSRA area districts and principals.
"At the heart of this program is a simple idea: to support teachers, students and schools in a practical and meaningful way. It’s about giving schools added resources to build on the good work already happening every day," Liz Ponder, Chief Executive Officer of SRP Federal Credit Union said.
83 schools in 10 counties across the CSRA region were given $2,500 dollars to put towards supplementing student and teacher needs totaling $207,500.
"The first person or people that our young people see are their parents. The next people they see are you. You are raising our politicians, our physicians, our educators, our professionals, our business owners, our bankers. Your job is vital to this community," Ponder added.
"We are incredibly grateful to SRP Federal Credit Union for its generous investment in our elementary schools and its unwavering commitment to the students we serve." Dr. Charlene Heard, Assistant Superintendent of Elementary Schools shared. "This investment empowers our principals to respond directly to the unique needs of their schools and create meaningful opportunities through instructional resources, hands-on learning, and enrichment experiences."
Participating schools will be considered for awards from SRP Federal Credit Union that highlight impact, creativity and community engagement.
"At SRP, we believe that strong communities begin with strong schools. Supporting education is one of the most meaningful ways we can shape the future of the communities we proudly serve." Shana Reid, Chief Development Officer at SRP Federal Credit Union said. "We are incredibly grateful for each of you being here tonight and for the partnerships that make opportunities like this possible.”
"More than a financial contribution, this is an investment in our students, our educators, and our shared belief in the power of education to transform lives and strengthen our communities," Heard added.
