The Aiken County Public School District (ACPSD) is pleased to announce the appointment of Crystal Hadden as Principal of Highland Springs Middle School. Hadden, a longtime educator with previous administrative experience in Aiken County Public Schools, brings a collaborative leadership style and a commitment to continuous growth and student success.
Hadden enters her twentieth year in education, including a decade of classroom experience as an English teacher in Aiken County Public Schools and Lexington County School District One. Most recently, she served as Assistant Principal at Douglas Elementary School in Edgefield County School District.
Prior to her role at Douglas Elementary, Hadden served as Assistant Principal at Strom Thurmond High School from 2018 to 2025. She also served as Interim Assistant Principal at South Aiken High School in 2018 and is excited to return to Aiken County Public Schools.
"Stepping into the role of Principal at Highland Springs Middle School feels like a true homecoming, both personally and professionally. Returning to Aiken County, the community where I was once a student myself and where my family now makes our home, makes this opportunity profoundly special," Hadden said. "As a product of Aiken County schools, the wife of an Aiken County educator, and the parent of a current Highland Springs Riverhawk with two future Riverhawks close behind, my connection to this school and community is deeply rooted."
Throughout her career, Hadden has focused on building collaborative school cultures through data-informed decision-making, strategic planning, and a shared commitment to student achievement.
"Mrs. Hadden brings valuable administrative experience at both the elementary and high school levels, giving her a unique perspective on students' educational journeys," said Dr. Amy Edwards, Chief Officer of Instruction. "She is a relationship-centered leader who understands the importance of supporting students, staff, and families while maintaining high expectations for teaching and learning. I am confident Highland Springs Middle School will continue to thrive under her leadership."
Hadden earned a Bachelor of Arts in English, a Master of Teaching in Secondary Education, and a Master of Educational Administration from the University of South Carolina. She is currently pursuing a Doctor of Education in Innovative Leadership at Augusta University.
"Highland Springs Middle School already has a strong foundation of excellence, a vibrant culture, and systems established by outstanding leaders," Hadden said. "To me, stepping into this role is both an honor and a commitment to partner with our exceptional staff, dedicated families, and amazing students. Together, we will continue to foster a learning environment where every Riverhawk feels supported, valued, and empowered to succeed. I am honored to lead this incredible school and look forward to a fantastic year ahead."
Hadden assumes her new role Monday, Aug. 3 as Principal of Highland Springs Middle School.
