Dr. Candice Coppock is named new executive director of technology.

Aiken County Public School District (ACPSD) is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Candice Coppock as the district’s new Executive Director of Technology for the 2026-27 school year.

Dr. Coppock brings nearly 30 years of experience in education and a distinguished background in educational technology leadership, cybersecurity, instructional technology, data privacy, and district operations. Throughout her career, she has led initiatives focused on strengthening technology systems, supporting teaching and learning, enhancing cybersecurity practices, and aligning technology investments with instructional priorities.

Most recently, Coppock served as Executive Director of Information Technology for Richland School District One, where she oversees district-wide technology operations, cybersecurity, data governance, instructional technology, and enterprise systems. Her previous leadership experience includes serving as Director of the Office of Instructional Services and Director of Instructional Technology Services in Richland One, as well as leadership roles with the South Carolina Department of Education.

Among her many accomplishments, Coppock was the first female educator in South Carolina to earn the Certified Education Technology Leader (CETL) certification. She was also recently named to the Access for Learning (A4L) 2026 North American Privacy Leadership Group. Coppock co-chairs the South Carolina Association of School Administrators (SCASA) Technology Leaders Roundtable and serves as chair of the newly formed South Carolina chapter of the Consortium for School Networking (CoSN).

“Dr. Coppock brings to this position a unique combination of classroom experience and deep expertise in information technology,” Chief Officer of Operations and Student Services Dr. Tim Yarborough said. “In Aiken County, we believe technology should empower teachers, enhance learning opportunities for students, and strengthen the systems that support our schools. Dr. Coppock has demonstrated success in each of these areas, and I am excited to welcome her to our leadership team.”

Coppock holds a Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership from Nova Southeastern University, a Master of Education in Middle Level Literacy from Cambridge College, and a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Lander University.

As she enters her 30th year in education, Coppock said she was drawn to ACPSD’s strong commitment to student success and the clear momentum taking place across the district.

“I am truly excited to join the Aiken County school community and grateful for the opportunity to serve,” Coppock said. “What drew me to this district was its clear commitment to students and the strong momentum already underway. My goal is to build on that foundation by listening, learning, and partnering with educators, staff, and families to ensure our technology systems support both student achievement and the day-to-day work of our schools. I look forward to helping align people, processes, and technology in ways that create lasting impact for students.”
