Coaches from across the district attend the coaches convocation.

Coming together from across the district, middle and high school athletic directors and coaches gathered at South Aiken High School for the inaugural Coach’s Convocation on June 3.

The event featured district and school level leaders who had the chance to share leadership tips and information for their upcoming season during the 2026-2027 school year.

“The convocation gives us an opportunity to review the past season, review rules and policies, and reiterate what the superintendent's athletic philosophy is and expectations are," Larry Dunn, Coordinator of Athletics shared. “Most of the time coaches see each other from opposite sides of the field or bench. Events like this give our athletic leaders an opportunity to sit, talk, and get to know who they are coaching against. It's events like this that get the whole district moving in the same direction."

Topics covered include transportation, eligibility requirements, spending and procurement of equipment and more.

“We want to run a first-class program," Bob Polewski, Athletic Administrator at South Aiken High School commented. "I think it’s advantageous to hear what the expectations are and that they are very high in the district."

ACPSD has nearly 200 coaches across the middle and high school level in a variety of sports.

“I think it’s good," Polewski continued. "This allows a chance to talk with the other coaches in a non-competitive environment and to have fellowship in that sort of way."
