NORTH AUGUSTA — Getting kids in the holiday spirit as well as helping others in need is how a local school gave back to its community during the Christmas season.

The annual Martha Butts Adopt A Child Christmas program was held at North Augusta High School to celebrate presents that were collected to help children in need have a Christmas.

The school was able to adopt 65 children and was able to give the children bikes and other gifts.

The program has been held for over 40 years and was started by North Augusta High School teacher Martha Butts. She passed away in 2020 after a battle with cancer.
