The Ecumenical Advisory Council convened on Wednesday, December 18, for the first meeting of the 2025-2026 school year, marking a vibrant start to a year of renewed collaboration. Following an introduction by Assistant Superintendent Eric Jeffcoat and a district update from Superintendent Dr. Corey Murphy, faith leaders shared a meal and engaged in a "round robin" dialogue. The atmosphere was one of shared purposes, reflecting a deep, collective commitment to lifting every child up in Aiken County.
During the session, participants celebrated the many ways faith-based groups have already poured into our schools, from mentoring and "Reading Buddies" to providing warm meals for our athletes and support for our teachers. The conversation focused on how to bridge the gap even further, with leaders brainstorming ways to "Adopt-a-School" and creating a digital "Needs Board" to ensure no student’s request goes unanswered. By combining the heart of the faith community with the resources of the district, the council is building a stronger safety net for our students and families.
Dr. Murphy concluded the meeting with enthusiasm, expressing his gratitude for the energy and compassion in the room. He noted that these partnerships are the heartbeat of our community, providing the extra layer of love and support that helps our students thrive. We are truly grateful for the continued engagement of our faith-based partners as we work together to support students, families, and staff across the district.
