GRANITEVILLE, SC (WJBF)- This week’s scholar athlete is a young man who’s literally a big reason why the Midland Valley Mustangs football team is off to an impressive 2-0 start.
We’re talking about none other than big number 79 Cameron “Chop” Criscillis. Now, “Chop” is a 6-foot, 280-pound offensive linemen for the Mustangs.
He’s won accolades such as the most promising offensive linemen award from his work on the gridiron. He’s also a 3-year letterman in track and earned his second varsity letter. “Chop” also sports a 4.5 GPA; he’s a member of the beta club, national honor society and is one of the unquestioned leaders in the school’s community.
“Football starts up front. So, he’s one of our leaders up front. He does everything the right way. Does all the communicating, so that’s where it starts. He’s one of those big guys that helps us get it going on offense,” said Midland Valley head coach Brent Dorn.
“It feels great having my hard work actually pay off and be recognized and have people to support me through all of it and to be here for me,” Criscillis said.
