MONETTA — Once it became clear that the Ridge Spring-Monetta baseball team would have a No. 1 seed in the playoffs, the Trojans started preparing themselves mentally and physically for a postseason run.
That even included a scouting trip Wednesday night to watch as Ware Shoals hosted Great Falls. The winner would have to travel to RS-M on Thursday, so head coach Kenny Lipsey planned to get a good look at his team's next opponent – and the rest of the team joined him.
Thursday, they put what they learned to good use in an 11-2 win over Great Falls that has RS-M squarely in control of District III-A.
"There's something special about these guys, and they're starting to buy in and they're starting to care about this program," said Lipsey. "So I think they came out today and did a good job of setting the tone in game one."
