Hornets' Moss Signs With Rams

Aiken High's James A. Taylor Activities Center has hosted its fair share of visitors over the last year, as hordes of college coaches have stopped by to check in on the Hornets' senior basketball players.

Often, a college coach on the way out of the gym would ask Aiken coach Darris Jackson a couple of questions: Who is that kid? And does he always play that hard?

That kid is Harrison Moss, a team captain and leader by example for the Hornets. Monday, he signed to play college basketball at Columbia International University.

"It feels great. I always wanted to play college basketball for a long time, so I guess now it can finally happen," he said. "CIU is a really good school, and I like it up there. I'm gonna look forward to playing with them."

The plan for a while had been to attend CIU, but Moss waited for a bit after then-head coach Marshall Tague resigned. The Rams announced in late April that former Clemson and Ohio State player Tony Stockman, and after meeting him Moss felt it was still right the fit.

"I'm a Christian, and everything about that school ... was just all about God and living your life for Him, and I really like that," said Moss, who plans to study English. "I like the new coach that they got. He really works the players hard, and I think it will be a challenge for me. I'm looking forward to it."

Jackson said Moss has held his teammates and his coaches accountable with his effort level and that he's going to go as hard as he can every day. Jackson has noticed his players feeding off that, and he said even he has, too.

"He's just been the picture of consistency. I don't think he's missed a workout. He hasn't skipped a rep in four years," Jackson said. "He's done everything we've asked him to do, and he's had a great attitude about it for four years. He's just a different kind of kid. He gives everything he's got. I'm extremely proud of him.
