Seniors Earn Scholarships

The Aiken Chapter of The Links, Incorporated awarded more than $5,000 in scholarships and two laptops Sunday to graduating seniors from high schools in Aiken and surrounding counties.

The students, supported by several hundred of their family members and friends, attended the organization’s annual Senior Recognition Day for the Class of 2019 at Old Macedonia Baptist Church in North Augusta.

ACPSD Students receiving $500 scholarships, their schools and the awards' sponsors are as follows:

• Brittany Frazier, Aiken Performing Arts Academy, Aiken (SC) Links

• Jayla C. Jackson, South Aiken High School, Aiken Alumnae Chapter Delta Sigma Theta

• Austin Scott, Ridge Spring-Monetta High School, Alvin & Pat Larke

• Candace Amaker, Wagener-Salley High School, Chandler Law Firm

• Caroline Taylor, South Aiken High School, George A. Samuels

• Cooper Ivey, South Aiken High School, The Esther Gordy Bullock Edwards Foundation

• Lauren Shoup, Midland Valley High School, Marie S. Johnson

• Heyden Bradley, North Augusta High School, Rep. William Clyburn

• Erin Andrews, Midland Valley High School, The Esther Gordy Bullock Edwards Foundation

• Arturo Contreras, Ridge Spring-Monetta High School, Security Federal Bank

• Lydia Terlizzi, South Aiken High School, The Esther Gordy Bullock Edwards Foundation

Seth Richardson and Carson Curry, both students at Midland Valley High School, received laptops.

The Links also recognized more than 100 seniors from 16 high schools for their achievements in academics, arts, athletics, service and character.

Commissioner William Clyburn Jr., principal, Clyburn Consulting LLC, was the speaker.
