Thursday’s release, October 25, by the South Carolina Department of Education of results for the 2018 SAT college admissions assessment shows members of the graduating Class of 2018 in Aiken County Public Schools outperforming state and national public schools while also improving upon 2017 District scores.
The SAT is a nationally recognized college admissions examination that consists of subject area tests in English, reading, writing and mathematics.
“We are pleased to see these improved scores on the SAT for Aiken County graduates of the Class of 2018,” stated Jeanie Glover, Chief Officer of Instruction for Aiken County Public Schools. “More of our students chose to take the SAT this year as an indicator of college readiness. As educators, we utilize these assessments to measure the performance of our students against their peers from across our state and the nation, and we are proud that our students have once again outperformed state and national scoring averages.”
The newly released SAT scores are the results of testing during the 2017-18 school year.
