Good evening, Oakwood-Windsor Family! This is Davina Truitt again with some reminders related to our morning arrival procedures and beginning of the year testing information.
Breakfast and lunch are offered at no cost to our families to all Wise Owls! Students who wish to eat breakfast should arrive to school by 7:25AM at the latest. All students wishing to eat should report directly to the cafeteria upon arrival before going to their classroom with the exception of 4k. 4k students report to their classroom and will go down to the cafeteria as a class at 7:30.
To help encourage the character trait of responsibility in your Wise Owl, I ask that parents do not walk students passed the front doors of our school. We have plenty of staff on duty who will help ensure your child gets to the correct location. We know transitions and change can be hard, especially for our littlest Wise Owls but after a couple of weeks, they will get used to it and the mornings will get easier and easier. We have over 430 students and 60 staff members in our building and adding more bodies during the busy time of the morning is a safety concern. If there is a situation and you need to help your child carry lots of items down to the classroom, you are more than welcome to leave them in the front office with a note and we will make sure they get to the correct classroom. Thank you for your support and understanding!
Beginning of the year testing is starting tomorrow! 1st-5th grade students are going to take the i-Ready Reading Test and 5k will begin Fastbridge testing. So that we can get an accurate picture of what your Wise Owl knows and where they need to go next with their learning, please ensure they are at school each day, get a good night's sleep and encourage them to do their best each and every day!
As always, thank you for being our partners in your Wise Owl's educational journey. If there is ever anything we can do for you, please don't hesitate to reach out! Have a wonderful rest of the evening and we look forward to seeing your Wise Owl bright and early tomorrow morning!

Good evening, Oakwood-Windsor family! This is Davina Truitt with some announcements and reminders for the week related to morning arrival and dismissal.
I hope this message finds you all doing well and your Wise Owl having a great weekend following a fantastic first week of school!
As a reminder, our doors open at 7AM for our students. To help foster responsibility in our Wise Owls, I ask they walk into the building by themselves. We have many staff on duty to help ensure your Wise Owl gets to the correct location. Students who wish to eat breakfast should report directly to the cafeteria (except 4k, they will meet in their classroom and go down to the cafeteria together). Students who want to eat breakfast should arrive by 7:25 at the latest. Our tardy bell rings at 7:30, at which time students must be walked into the building and be signed in by an adult.
Dismissal begins at 2:30PM. All Wise Owls must go home per their regular transportation method established last week. All changes to this method of transportation must be made in writing. If you message your Wise Owl's teacher, please don't assume he or she read it especially if you don't get a response. Please also call the office to confirm receipt as teachers are busy during the day attending to your sweet Wise Owls. Carline pickup adults must have an official Oakwood-Windsor carline pickup tag. Not having an appropriate car-tag will result in the adult being required to show their picture identification and having it checked against the PowerSchool contacts. Thank you for helping us keep your Wise Owl safe!
As always, if there is ever anything we can do for you, please do not hesitate to reach out! Have a wonderful rest of the evening and we look forward to seeing our Wise Owls bright and early tomorrow morning!

Parents/Guardians/Students: Over the next week, we'll be reviewing the Student Code of Conduct during the school day. Please take a few minutes at home to become familiar with the the rules for your school, as well as the consequences that could result for students who do not follow them. The Code of Conduct is available by scanning the QR code or visiting www.acpsd.net/CodeOfConduct. We are looking forward to a wonderful year, and appreciate your support in following these conduct guidelines that are aimed to ensure we're creating an environment in which effective teaching and learning can occur and that safeguards are in place for the safety of all students, staff and families.

We're excited to announce new communications tools that were designed to enhance engagement with our students and families! The new acpsd.net launched earlier this month, and our mobile app with "Rooms" for built-in School-to-Home Two-Way Communications is live now!
