Byrd Elementary Students in Grades 1–5 Will Begin i-Ready Testing August 3–7
At Byrd Elementary, we believe every child can grow, achieve, and SOAR! Next week, our students in 1st through 5th grade will participate in the i-Ready Diagnostic Assessment, an important tool that helps us understand each student's strengths and identify the skills they're ready to learn next.
Unlike a traditional test, the i-Ready Diagnostic isn't about earning a grade. Instead, it provides teachers with valuable information that allows them to personalize instruction, celebrate student growth, and ensure every child receives the support or enrichment they need throughout the school year.
Why i-Ready Matters
The i-Ready Diagnostic helps us:
Identify what students already know and what they are ready to learn next.
Create individualized learning pathways that meet students where they are.
Measure academic growth throughout the school year.
Set meaningful goals and celebrate progress together.
Every student's best effort helps us provide the highest quality instruction possible.
How Parents Can Help
Families play an important role in helping students do their best. Here are a few simple ways to prepare:
Prioritize a good night's sleep. Well-rested students are better able to focus and think critically.
Eat a healthy breakfast. A nutritious meal helps fuel the brain for learning.
Arrive on time. Our school day begins promptly at 7:30 a.m., and testing will begin shortly after the school day starts.
Encourage your child to take their time. Remind them that it's okay if some questions are challenging. The test adjusts to each student's responses, so students should simply do their best on every question.
Offer positive encouragement. Let your child know that this assessment is an opportunity to show what they know—not something to worry about.
