  •  acGATEWAY Summer Arts Program -- The application for the 2024 acGATEWAY Summer Arts Program is now available on the district website via the following link: is a rigorous and immersive summer arts opportunity for students who submit an application and go through the audition process.  Current 3rd-12th graders are eligible and may choose from dance, theater, visual art, music, or creative writing.Applications may also be obtained from and returned to school-based Gateway coordinators; a list of which can be found on the Gateway webpage.  Your school's Gateway coordinator can assist your student with the application and audition process; as well as help answer questions you may have.The deadline to submit applications (either online or to a school-based coordinator) is Monday, December 11th.All information about the program is detailed in the application.For further assistance, contact:•    acGATEWAY Program Director, Mabry MacGregor, at•    District Fine Arts Coordinator, Dr. Kimberly Fontanez, at

  • PREPARE FOR FAMILY EMERGENCIES WITH SMART911 - We are fortunate in Aiken County to have access to a free service called SMART911. The service allows families to register their homes and occupants for the purpose of providing law enforcement and first responders with immediate access to life-saving information in the event of a call for help to 911. During an actual emergency, first responders will have this vital information relayed to them before they arrive. Signing up is fast, easy, and free!     With over three decades of experience in education, nineteen of which have been spent as an educator and district leader in Aiken County, Kathy Langston, has always had a passion for education that drives her commitment to ensuring every student has the opportunity to succeed. She currently serves as a Coordinator for the Office of Federal Programs, and will expand her role in the 2024-25 school year as the district’s new Director of Teaching and Learning.

    John Murphy Named Director Of Maintenance And Operations

    Experienced educator and longtime principal John Murphy will transition from school to district leadership as the school system’s new Director of Maintenance and Operations. Murphy’s appointment was approved during the regular meeting of the Aiken County Board of Education on Tuesday, May 7, 2024. He’ll begin serving in his new role in July.
