Wiley To Join Admin Team At North Augusta High
After serving for the last several years as the District’s Director of Special Programs, LaToya Wiley will join the leadership team at North Augusta High School as an Assistant Principal later this month.
Wiley began her career as an intervention teacher for Richmond County. In 2009, she joined Aiken County Public Schools as a special education teacher and 504 Coordinator. Throughout her time in Aiken County, she’s held varied leadership roles inside the Department of Special Programs, including Program Specialist for High Schools & Transition and Coordinator of Compliance. She also previously served as the District’s Human Resources Recruitment Coordinator.
Since 2020, Wiley has led special education services for the district as Director. “It’s been a pleasure to lead our Special Programs team over the past few years,” she shared. “I’ll miss the work, my colleagues, students and families we serve, but am also excited for the unique opportunity to serve in my hometown of North Augusta.”
Wiley received her undergraduate degree from the University of South Carolina Aiken and has two Masters Degrees; the first she earned in Public Administration from Troy University in 2003, and a second in Special Education from Augusta University in 2007. As an active member of the State Department’s Institute for Administrators, SC Association of School Administrators, Council of Administrators of Special Education, and Council for Exceptional Children, her passion for serving students and staff through educational leadership is evident.
Aiken’s Superintendent King Laurence made trustees aware of Wiley’s administrative appointment at the January 10 regularly scheduled meeting. She’ll begin her new role at North Augusta High School on January 23.
