Author Visits JES

Author Michael Finklea visited Jefferson Monday and spoke to the 2nd-5th graders about his journey to becoming an author.  He also read to them from on of his most popular books!

Finklea had his first book published at 36.  It was called the Worldwide Adventures of Winston and Churchill.  He told students that his book was rejected eight times before he had published it.  He began the book at 18 and gave up on writing it after three rejections, but his sister encouraged him to keep trying.  He told the students he wanted them to remember to, "finish what you started."  He said if you don't take anything else away from this visit, remember that.

After speaking to the students the author stayed to sell some of his books and autograph them for students!
