November Teacher Of The Month
Congratulations to Mr. Chappell! He was selected as the State Farm Teacher of the Month.
-
This Friday, November 10th, we would like for everyone to wear purple to show our support of Veterans Day. Why purple? Because purple is a blend of red and blue. When our all-volunteer military men and women enlist to serve our nation, they don't sign up to serve a red state or a blue state, or one political faction but not another, they serve America.

Light Up the Night
80s Themed Glow Dance
We are so excited about our upcoming 80s themed Glow Dance!
A few things to remember-* A parent or guardian HAS to be present with the child/children.
* If you have children in multiple grades, (ie. lower and upper) which would result in your family attending two dances, you have two options. You may all come on either night of your choice OR you may purchase tickets for each night and bring the children on their designated grade level night.
* Its ok if you don't have 80s attire! We will have blacklights so anything bright or white will work. Just plan to have FUN!
*Tickets must be purchased PRIOR to the event so we can make sure to have enough food etc.

Flu Letter And Information
A Note from Nurse Crystal
Dear Parents/Guardians,
It’s that time of year and, unfortunately, flu season is here in the community and within our school. Flu symptoms can come on suddenly. Please DO NOT send your child to school with the following symptoms:
-
Feeling feverish/chills or a fever of 100 degrees or higher within the last 24 hours. This includes children who were dismissed the previous day due to fever. They will NOT be able to return to class, per district policy, until they are fever free for 24 hours. Students MUST be fever free WITHOUT the use of Tylenol or Motrin for 24 hours before returning.
-
Vomiting and/or diarrhea within the last 24 hours.
-
Continuous coughing with or without fever.
-
Sore throat, flu-like symptoms such as: fever (100-102 degrees), headache, cough, muscle aches, fatigue (weakness/tiredness)
Please keep in mind not everyone with the flu will have a fever over 100. Some may have a low grade fever, under 100 degrees, along with other flu-like symptoms.
*TIPS FOR STAYING HEALTHY*
-Frequent hand washing with soap and water is the best way to prevent the spread of germs.
-Cover your cough with a tissue or use your elbow if no tissue is available
-8-10 hours of sleep each night, eating healthy foods and staying hydrated with water
-Consult with your child’s pediatrician about information concerning the flu vaccine
*If your child has been tested for the flu and has a CONFIRMED case of the flu from the doctor, please notify your child’s teacher and school nurse as soon as possible. For attendance purposes, please obtain a medical excuse from the doctor’s office and submit an excuse to the school.
For more health related information concerning the flu, please visit www.scdhec.gov or visit www.ACPSD.net→Dept→Nursing Services→When to stay home.
Please feel free to call the school nurse with any questions or concerns!
Thank you,
Nurse Crystal, RN

Morning Arrival and Afternoon Dismissal
Parents,
Thank you for helping us with arrival and dismissal procedures. Please see quick updates below and help us follow these expectations.
Arrival:
The bus loop can be used ONLY if we stop traffic while buses enter and unload. Please stay patient while we unload buses before moving through the loop. Please stay single file and do not pass. We cannot assume students will not get out the driver side and it is safer if we stay in a single line.
Dismissal:
Thank you for having your Jefferson logo carline tag on your dashboard. Starting Monday, August 29th, parents that do not have the Jefferson logo tag will have to park, come to the office and show their ID to get their student(s). We would like to avoid this since you would have already waited in line. We will print as many copies of the carline tag that you need. You are free to make copies as well. We only want to use the tags with the Jefferson logo. Hand-written tags will not be called. If you need tags or need extra copies, please email jmetts@acspd.net or jparsons@acpsd.net.
Thank you all for a great start to our school year.
