ACPSD MAKE-UP DAY (Hurricane Irma)
Description
Wednesday, January 3, 2018, has been approved as a make-up day for instructional time lost on and September 12, 2017, due to the remnants of Hurricane Irma passing through our area. This approved make-up day was already designated as one of the District's first two "weather" make-up days on the 2017-18 school year calendar.
Section 59-1-425(B) of the 1976 Code, as amended by Act 260 of 2006, reads: “(B) Notwithstanding any other provisions of law to the contrary, all school days missed because of snow, extreme weather conditions, or other disruptions requiring schools to close must be made up. All school districts shall designate annually at least three days within their school calendars to be used as make-up days in the event of these occurrences.
