What: Clay Target Shooting Shotgun Team at North Augusta High School
When: August 2021 start for the 2021-2022 school year
Who: Boys and Girls 9-12th grade

The team will compete as North Augusta High School in all events and the student-athletes will be held to the same academic and eligibility requirements of all student-athletes in Aiken County. There will also be addition behavior and code of conduct rules for the members of the clay target team.
Each student athlete must complete the SC DNR Hunter safety/firearms training course (Free locally on several weekends a month or on-line through SC DNR) prior to any participation.
Each shooter will be instructed on 4H safety rules and shooting range safety before all practices and competitions either by a 4H shooting instructor or SC DNR shooting instructor.
Eye and Ear protection is required at every event.
There are never guns or ammo on campus.
The parents of the athletes are responsible for providing a gun (subject to inspection by the certified instructor), shotgun shells (No reloads), eye/ear protection, and transportation.
Practices will be one night a week at Pinetucky Shooting club in Richmond County and these will be piggybacked with the PKMS team as several NAHS teachers who are certified as 4H instructors will also be present to serve as instructors and range safety officers.
The cost for a practice round is $7 and is paid upon arrival by the student athlete at Pinetucky. Shooters must bring their own gun, ammo, and safety items (eye and ear protection) to all events. (Spectators on the range will also need safety items…there are defined spectator areas that do not require the eye and ear protection)
All SC DNR competitions will be in Edgefield at the Palmetto Shooting Complex and are run by the SC DNR as part of their SC Scholastic Clay Target Sports program. All SC DNR events are free…you just provide shot shells. Visit their website at: http://www.dnr.sc.gov/education/SCTS/index.html
