Dr. Ryan Ashley

I have the distinct honor of serving as Kennedy Middle School’s principal. The 2019-2020 school year begins my tenure with the Aiken County Public School District, and I look forward to being a part of the ONE TEAM for many more years to come. I began my career in Dorchester District Two as a social studies teacher at Summerville High School. I then went to Charleston Southern University to complete my Master’s Degree in Secondary Administration and Supervision and became an administrator at Ashley Ridge High School and then at Fort Dorchester High School. This is my 14th year of being a South Carolina educator, and I couldn’t think of anything else I would rather do. While working in Dorchester County I enrolled at Liberty University and completed by Ed S and eventually returned to finish my doctoral studies.

I am a big believer in service to the community. While living in Summerville, I was the President-Elect of the Summerville-Oakbrook Rotary Club. My recent move to Aiken will now allow me to join the Rotary Club in Aiken and continue serving in the community. I am currently in my second year as a member of the Board of Trustees at Charleston Southern University, my alma mater. I am also a member of the S.C. Association of School Administrators (SCASA) and have served in the past on the ACT State Council. I am also a graduate of the S.C. Department of Education Developing Aspiring Principal’s Program (DAPP).

As the principal of Kennedy Middle School for the first time, I have a few goals that I would like to focus on this year.

  1. Establish a positive culture for both students and adults at Kennedy Middle School that is based on discipline, accountability, and a vision for the future.
  2. Ensure academic success is of paramount importance to Kennedy Middle School by:
    1. Establishing a School-based Literacy Program
    2. Helping students establish and achieve personal academic goals for themselves
    3. Creating a culture of personal responsibility
  3. Creating a culture at Kennedy Middle School that is safe, nurturing, and student-centered.

If I can be of any service to you at all, please reach out via email or give me a call at the school.

Welcome to Kennedy Middle School…Home of the Eagles!

I am excited and honored to be a part of the Kennedy Middle School family!  I started my career in the Aiken County Public School District as a science teacher at Aiken High School. In my first year, not only did I teach Physical Science and Environmental Science, I was also the Varsity Girls’ Golf Coach.  During my 9 years at Aiken High, I continued to teach a variety of science subjects and coached multiple sports including Girls’ Golf, Varsity & JV softball and middle school basketball.

Before becoming an educator, I obtained my Bachelor of Science- Exercise Science from USC-Aiken.  I was a personal trainer and owner of an aerobic kickboxing business.  I obtained my second Bachelor’s Degree in Secondary Education – Biology from USC-Aiken in 2007. I taught at Aiken High School from 2007 until 2016.  I completed my M.Ed in Educational Leadership and began my profession as a High School Science Content Interventionist for ACPSD.   I have grown professionally and personally through the guidance of incredible administrators, colleagues and mentors throughout the Aiken County Public School District.

I am extremely excited to be Kennedy Middle School’s new Assistant Principal.  My passion has always been to help young people grow not only academically but socially and emotionally as well! I am thankful to be a KMS Eagle!

Hello and welcome to KMS!

I have the privilege to be a part of the Kennedy team once again.  I started my career in the Aiken County Public School District as a Special Education teacher at KMS. After serving in resource to self-contained settings, I joined the Special Programs team as the district Assistive Technology Lead. I then had the opportunity to serve as an Assistant Principal at NAMS prior to my current position with KMS.

I obtained my Bachelor of Science degree from Ball State University. I worked in human resources for 12 years prior to obtaining my Masters in Special Education from the University of Phoenix. I then received my Education Specialist Degree in Educational Leadership from Liberty University. I have had the privilege of growing and working with great administrators, students, and staff in my nine years with ACPSD.

It is my honor and blessing to work with the community and students at Kennedy Middle School. Please feel free to contact me at any time about the great things happening at Kennedy. I look forward to continued successes and collaborative progression at the home of the Eagles!
