Greetings North Augusta High School!

I hope you are all excited for a new year of learning and growing through music for the 2022-2023 school year! My name is Ms. Samantha Newcomb, and I am entering my fourth year teaching at North Augusta as the Orchestra Director, Assistant Band Director, and Guitar Instructor. This year I will also be teaching a section of Music Appreciation. A native of Fayetteville, NC and Terry Sanford High School, I graduated from the University of South Carolina in May 2019 with a Bachelor of Music in Music Education with an emphasis in instrumental music. I am a French horn and guitar player with over twelve years of musical experience in a variety of ensembles. While at USC, I had the opportunity to perform with the Symphony Orchestra, Symphonic Winds, Wind Ensemble, Basketball Pep Band, and USC's marching band- The Carolina Band. I also have experience with drum corps as a member of the Blue Stars Drum and Bugle Corps hornline in 2017. I am currently on staff as an operations administrator for the Phantom Regiment Drum and Bugle Corps. Professional affiliations include Kappa Kappa Psi National Honorary Band Fraternity, the National Association for Music Educators, and the South Carolina Music Educators Association. It is my belief that all students possess a passion for music before their journey through music education ever begins. It is my job as a music educator to harness and strengthen this passion through the process of learning, creating, and performing music.
