Mr. James Garew

Hello Parent/Students!

Welcome to the 2019-2020 school year! I’m Mr. Garew, one of the team members of Jackson Middle School teachers that will be working with you this year.

This is my 11th year teaching. I have five years of physical science teaching experience and the other five at the fifth and sixth-grades teaching science, history and math, I am also experienced as a certified computer technician, a CDL 18 wheeler driver, and retail management with Kroger and Exxon C-Stores. I am gifted endorsed and have my Master’s degree in Education.

All at the middle grade level, I have 4 years headcoaching midget football, 3 years head coaching wrestling, 1 year head coaching soccer, 3 years assistant coaching baseball, and 7 years head coaching an elite travel baseball team.

I am new to the district, and I look forward to working with you and your child. Please do not hesitate to contact me at my email address: jgarew@acpsd.net.

My recommendation for a distractive free learning environment, is for students not have a cell phone, but make it a priority to have the tools for learning that includes an attitude of respect for adults and authority, a supply of pencils, black/blue pens, loose leaf paper and a composition notebook just for this class, maybe not hurt to have a three-ring binder with dividers to hold your papers.

I try to over-look a lot of middle schooler short comings, If becomes intrusive, extensive, and totally disruptive to safety, security, and learning, I will contact you at least once in hopes of correcting, I and you will then expect your child to behave according to the agreed upon adults expectations, further occurances of same behaviors may result in a referral to administration. The same holds true for grades, I will do my best to contact parents if a concern, It's a team effort.

I’m looking forward to serving, getting to know, and working with you this year! Your students are going to be rigourously challenged, encouraged, and learn the necessary STEM skills for success in tomorrow’s challenges.

Sincerely,

Mr. Garew M.Ed
